More math questions for elementary students.
Here are a few math questions my daddy presented to us boys when we were in grade school... I think I was in about the third or fourth grade at the time. Just some fun stuff to play with and mess with a childs mind.
If a brick weighs one pound plus 1/2 brick... how much does a brick and a half weigh?
How many cubic feet of dirt are in a hole 3ft wide 4ft long and 5ft deep?
Those are pretty simple... this one is a bit trickier.
A rancher with three sons passes away and his will clearly states that he wants his sons to divide up his horses according to the following... His eldest is to get one half of his herd, his middle son is to get one third, and the youngest is to receive one ninth of the ranchers 17 horses. How do they divide them up?
Hint: It wasnt until a neighbor came riding up to pay his respects that the boys were able to come up with the solution.
Now this last one is twice as easy, as there are two correct answers.
A farmer gives his son 100 dollars in cash to go to the livestock barn with instructions to buy 100 head of stock. Cows cost $10 each... hogs are $2 each and sheep are selling for 50 cents each. (yeah, I know, its obviously a very old riddle) The son comes home with the hundred head, has spent every dime of the hundred dollars... no more no less.... how many of each critter did he come home with?
