Cold cold and more cold............

I know there was a big cold storm that just went through the east but I think a lot worse cold is coming.
I'm less than 10 miles from the Pacific. At an elevation where there is some snow each year- in February or March, maybe a little later.
But right now it is colder earlier than I have seen since I lived here. Much colder than the last cold snap that made it's way east.
So just a head's up- I'm not sure where it's heading- northeast or southeast but an ice freight train is going somewhere east.

Watched the Seattle News tonight and they were forecasting temps in the teens up there. Record lows.

Where I recreate, temps have been very warm for this time in the season. So warm that I get to help pull a snowmachine off the bottom of the lake this spring. Weird year. Kinda glad that I didn't buy a plow truck.

It is going to be a record cold spell here in WI. We are having middle of January weather in the first week of Dec. aarrgg.
A Whole week of WAY below zero is about to happen. Friday night close to 15 below, one day next week in the lower teens, then Way below again, 12 below by weeks end. This may just be the earliest cold snap like this in many many years this early in Dec..

We should be hitting -40 right now at the lake. It is +13. Snowmachines are going under. People are staying home. We should have 24" of good ice.

In town it is 23 degrees and raining. Glad I don't have to commute.

It is odd that in the last week a town just north of here broke the record high temp for the day and the record low for the day on the same day.
But we're stuck in low temps for the moment.

It hit here in MN. Yesterday we had slush and there were warnings for people to shovel because the low temps would freeze it all into huge blocks of ice.

I think it's now 6* but no wind.

23F headed for 13F tonight, but it is supposed to moderate by middle of next week. No worries---a very large capacity wood heater and wood cook-stove (opposite ends of the house) and it's all good. My motorcycles are tucked away in their shed, the dogs and cat are inside and nice and warm, and I'm treating myself to a piping hot Whiskey Punch! Life is good-----chilly, but good!
