What do you and your partner enjoy working on

together?

For us it's canning.I am grateful we can work together on something that makes our lives easier, saves us money and helps us eat healthier.

Yesterday on his Sam's club run dh picked up a big ham that he wanted to can so it's ready for easy sandwich filling as ham salad.

He was working an earlier shift today than normal since he went to days. This afternoon I cut up the ham for: big chunks to fill wide mouth pints, small chunks for soup. By the time he got home everything was ready to have the rims wiped and lids put on. He took over.

He fired up the canners. We have two canners going right now with ham, bean and ham soup, split pea soup and extra soup broth.

My partner...is..my brother...but eewwwww, let's not go there. As for my wife, I just taught her to air up her own tire, which was pretty cool, but I really think she knew how to do it herself all these years, and was just playing me like a banjo.

What we really like doing together, is discovering those things in which we would be helpless by ourselves and desperately need each other to do well or correctly. Surviving and getting by tops that list. It encompasses everything you read about here on HT. Today was all about ordering cheese making supplies, because it was rainy outside.

We do everything together when I'm not working. Gardening, canning, firewood, home improvements, scavenging for kewl stuff at yard sales and thrift stores. We're pretty much inseparable.

I love how many couples can, cook and garden together.

Due to my increasinly bad reaction to poisoin ivy I now pretty much just stick to trying to grow a few veggies, herbs and flowers. I don't help with trimming and cutting brush and shrub.

My Dh helps me cann too, esp, green beans. He will sit with a bowl for hours on the sofa snapping them for me. He eats a lot of green beans. We do everything together when he is home. I don't know what it is about working with wood tho-he gets real impatient , so I do as much building as I can by myself. He's a mechanic and does all kinds of metal work so I suspect it's the reason. We went to Lowes to get me a set of fancy legs for me to make a Harvest table. His eyes glazed over-but when we passed the tools,I showed him the ones that I'd like for me for Christmas-That perked him up!

For 22 years of marriage Lee Ann and I have renovated old houses together. Our current house (the Creepy Gothic Mansion) is number eleven for us. We both work regular jobs, but evenings and weekends we are in harness together, scraping, painting, plumbing, tiling, landscaping, roofing, wallpapering, pouring concrete, building fences and so on. I don't sew drapes and she doesn't do electrical, but in all other things related to our house work we are equal partners and helpmates.

And about five nights a week, it's Scrabble - yes, we live a wild and crazy life.

We don't share the same career so we are separate in that. There was a time when we worked together and it was great. There was a time when our careers kept us apart for months at a time. That was great as well.

When we are together we do everything together - neither of us was brought up to believe in gender specific jobs. Or we do nothing together. We just spent 9 days together doing nothing. It was wonderful.

We enjoy all manner of things together but actually working together? He and I work very differently so usually we work in parallel. I'll work with the animals while he works in the garden, things like that.

What we actually enjoy working on together is his novel and other writing projects. We can talk for hours about plot points, story progression, character arcs and cultures. It is a joy to be able to assist in any way I can with such works.

Cooking, canning, gardening. I would help more with stuff like mowing and chain-sawing, stuff like that, but I just am not a big strong gal. Plus, he's a mechanic so I would slow him down on most things!

Planning the gardens, picking which plants, putting together the seed buying list. Planting the seeds in the early spring. I do most of the in and out of the seedling trays as he's at work, but we do love the gardening together very much.

Harvesting the stuff, cleaning it up. We really enjoy our weekend breakfasts together - he loves to cook so he usually makes those!
