Maybe people who work should get more respect.

A discussion of the effect of stagnant wages on the economy. It really started with President Clinton and his NAFTA treaty. The treaties, which have been expanded with each administration, were always touted as "job creating" but somehow always created more jobs for the foreign treaty partner than for the US. Again and again and again.
However like many things today, it was supported by Republicans, as many of their most chummy constituents make lots more money by having work done outside the US, and Democrats as it helps poor people overseas while helping US workers too (the Democrats are firm believer in magic). While most workers in the US suffer.

And maybe people who don't (politicians for one) shouldn't . . . (get any respect?)

The only 'work' I've ever known them to do,

is the spending of other people's money!

At the rate they've been going . . .

our only hope is that most of them

sweat themselves to death doing so!

NAFTA was NEVER created to create jobs anywhere. It was created to destroy the American jobs and benefit worldwide corporations.

From the article:
With inflation running at 1.5 percent, that means real wages are just keeping ahead of prices -- for now. Inflation is likely to climb as the economy gains speed, but there is no assurance that wages will keep pace.

They obviously haven't been grocery shopping lately!

I am surprised that wonder boy Clinton does not get more flak for his role in creating the global recession. This is great ammo to use against the Dems when they run off at the mouth blaming Bush for the country's recession, but the R's don't use it. Why they don't use it I don't know, instead they just let Obama beat them into a corner and slander them.

Maybe the Republicans and Democrats all take their orders from the same people?
We need to clean house before it's too late.
It may already be too late, too many people are blindly and stupidly supporting Obama for no practical reason

That would be my luck, to wait until I retire for working people to get respect.

Or the dems just sucker in and fleece the left while the R's sucker in and fleece the right and then they just toss all the loot on the table and dish it out to the whole gang because they are both on the same team and their only goal is suckering us all and stealing. Gangsters and con men.

As all the power is in either the Republican or Democratic parties, anyone who is an independent rarely can achieve much. Yet neither party represents me at all. Neither rich enough nor poor enough, although the Democrats are working on pushing me into poor.
It sounds nice to have a thrid party but I can't see that there has been any momentum to gain voters in that direction.

The simple solution is clear... The Minimum Wadge should be raised just like the COLA for People on Social Security, Disabled People, Military Personnel, and Disabled Veterans.

The Cost of Living goes up every year, as our economy continues to bloat itself. The reason people who make minimum wadge are complaining is because they can not make enough money to have the same basic services that most Americans enjoy, or in fact need to get a job.

I was disappointed he did not win that election. I really liked him. I think he could have cleaned up a lot of the mess.

Minimum wage goes up, then all wages have to go up because society is built on a financial pyramid structure. Then the cost of living will go up to balance the increase in wages and then you are just back to the same old problem but now you make $15 an hour at mc d's but milk cost $7, the average meal at a restaurant goes up to $25, and so on. Why bother, in the end the poor will still be poor because society needs a large body of low income workers in order for society to function.

Can I ask you what you think business owners do when they have a sudden and mandatory increase in their overhead?
