Muslims (who are religious) don't drink beer or any alcohol. The joke is flawed through a lack of understanding of concepts and people. No big deal, just silly.

Back in the 1970s, I went to a bar with some friends and a couple of Saudi exchange students. (FWIW, if an exchange student is from Saudi Arabia, HE isn't going to be from any lower class family.) It was entertaining and enlightening (and they drank tea). I'm sure they came away enlightened about Americans as well.
