We now return you, to your regularly scheduled discrimination .

Of course it could just be a bit of backlash related . . . ?

Sounds to me like the manager is just a jerk. Sending 25 paying customers out of the door because one person asked? That was just the manager speaking a message of "we don't want your kind in here" in my opinion.

Sure they have the right to refuse service to people but the public has the right to not give them anymore of their money to show what they think of racist actions.

I think anytime a group of people assemble in a public place and intimidate others we should have the right to ask them to leave. Lets say you were in a nice neighborhood, having your sunday brunch in one of the better restaurants and 25 old school bikers show up, intimidating the regular patrons? What would you expect the manager to do?

The manager would probably mess his pants and go home

I wonder if the "threatened feeling one" was there eating before those people came in and waited the 2 hours. Seems to me, in two hours before, they would have been noticed, etc.

This seems very strange. And I wonder if the "threatened" one was elderly and from the ages past and not up to date on people being people. And feel threatened by anything outside their realm of what is.

The report seems quite scant on information, long on innuendo. its very difficult to say what went on there much less form a realistic opinion as to if it was a racial issue or other reasons. It does seem as though someone is trying to stir a pot though. What is actually in that pot, we will most likely never know.

Good point! I am all for every citizens right to go where they want and do as they please.... but only as long as they are not interfering with the next fellers right to do likewise. These good westbrook folks have a habit of interfering... in the most tasteless manner.

If you meant Westboro Baptist - those folks are not Christians. They are a cult. And they are generally rowdy enough that they need to be made to leave almost anywhere they rear their ugly heads. Disgusting excuses for human beings IMHO.

Define intimidating. I've had some great experiences interacting with "old school bikers". If they are acting in a distruptive manner, bothering other patrons, ask them to modify their behavior or leave. If they're enjoying a meal like the other patrons but are dressed and look differently, get over yourself.

What a unfortunate incident. This is going to be another brick in the wall for some. Was the group of 25 rowdy or unruly? Or was the "frightened" patron just a horse's patoot? We'll probably never know.

From what I have read in the Charleston paper and on Facebook, it sounds to me like the woman was a horse's patoot. She is the one who should have been asked to leave if she was uncomfortable.

may have wondered (as I did) whether it was because of the media

who was doing the reporting. Seeing as how this particuliar one came

from Huff Post, it isn't exactly surprising if they would "fan the flames"

by leaving important details out. Checking with various other sources,

I discovered that that could very well be true, as there was considerably

more material with which to work with. http://www.techyville.com/2013/08/ne...ould-they-sue/

One source even went so far as to put a possible racial spin to it,

by claiming that the incident occurred in NORTH Carolina . . . .

However, something still doesn't ring true from what we have been told.

What group of 25 folks (be they black, white, green or polka dotted) waits

around for 2 or more hours without raising some sort of fuss? I don't care

how great those wings are . . . . someone is going to make a 'scene', if only

to impress their friends that they don't have to take this shabby treatment.

The manager probably was told of the "problem" that was beginning to escalate

(perhaps by that concerned white customer) and it went downhill from there.

And let's be real . . . .if they have great wings, then there had to be other

blacks in the establishment during those 2 hours! Bet they came earlier or

already had a reservation. And probably didn't raise a stink about having to wait.

Anyway . . . . however this turns out, the company will be feeling a world of hurt

in their bottom line and that manager may have to think about another career choice.
