CBS News) WASHINGTON - As the United States honors the heroes of the Korean War, there is one who is often overlooked, but her contributions are now set in stone. In Triangle, Va., near the grounds of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the curtain dropped to reveal Sgt. Reckless.

The statue looks beautiful, I hope to go see it some day.

I had no idea they still used horses during the Korean war. It has to be tough, to teach an animal to deal with battle.

The Rhodesians fielded a unit of dragoons (mounted infantry) in their war against communist terrorists in the 70s. Mounted Marines patrolled the fence line on a base in Hawaii into the late 80s. And special operations forces used horses & mules in Afghanistan. They are still very useful in war.

In WW 1 UK drafted a Mil horses. By the end of the war, only 60G made it back.
