Cross-post Alaska plane crash

I'm cross-posting this here because I know that at least one member, Kasilofhome, lives in Alaska.

The loss is a tragedy, and I pray for families and friends of the lost souls.

I am keeping quiet till I know where a group of my son's friends are--they played soccer on Sat. They were taking a jump flight to return to the boat to fish. This is normal here I do not know but when my boy was 13 &14 he would play soccer on Sat. and the pilot would buzz the field to let him know to get to the strip. He would leave the field and go to work.

It was taking off that is what locals know. The emegency vel. were on the spot in six min. It was a big explosion and the first report came out was stupid.

Plane crash up Funny river --totally engolfed in flames--No bodies outside neade the crash site. No one got out. --Unknown if anyone has been hurt. Duh. No, names still. But for the pilot--he owned the business and he is very experienced.side not he is a close family member to a well know (not to me thought) ===de Havilland I wonder about birds.
This is 22 miles from me --which is in alaskan living next door.

Locals are really want to know who they are. But it will be a while due to the intense heat not much to id a body to be blunt. It is sad. It is talked that the familes might know so maybe it is not locals.

To many the simple this is to call these young men but cells do not were were the would be and only marine radio. They are more likely fine as If they did not get to the boat --unless the captain was flying with them too --which is why we are wondering --the boat captain would be screaming for his crew.

If they are safe they are working hard and totally out of touch with the news and no one will call home for I think two weeks is what I heard. Can't check with the parents cause well they live in the bush in the summer.

It appears that all the (9) nine passengers were from South Carolina.

The pilot being the 10th victim. Here's the latest link that I could find:

Thanks I had to go to Soldotna so I missed the news break---Every year we have plane crashes that kill never this many---normally we have more people killed driving between the Peninsula and Anchorage during the summer. In fact we were delayed with a big rig carrying lumber--(local SB lumber truck) on it's side. Really messed up were the passenger side was flattened as it it slide down the ravine---no skid mark anywhere---

Kasilofhome

Relieved to read that your family and friends are safe.

I lived in Anchorage (Elmendorf) many years ago. We flew many miles in a Piper Super Cub with my dad piloting . I was very young so it was an adventure, and I still remember how breathtakingly beautiful it all was. Only as an adult did I learn about the dangers too.

One of the families went to church with an in-law of mine, and they are of course devastated.

Prayers for all.

It is just sad.

A memorial has been set up for all who died. Yes, I was hopeing and was greatful for the local boys but that was personal --knowing them and all. I think that it is right for a perm memorial to be put up. I believe that will be in the works.

Pilot came from an old family---His grandparent strung wires in the trees first phone company here ---It started with six phones. He and his developed alot of the inferstucture here. As usual potluck service at the strip on Sat. Be it a great person in history or a baby who dies all sevices have the potluck and a history lesson of the persons family will be past on orally. It is a great way to learn and understand the values and issues of a young state.

If you can please pass on that there is the memorial. I would pass on photos IF any family member would find any comfort. What a mess.

Done.

If you will be so kind to pm a photo or two, I will certainly pass them on. Thank you so much.

I wish the history was written as well as orally. So many could learn so much. I remember when Alaska entered Statehood. There was a ceremony and celebration at the base where my father was stationed at the time. Those who had been stationed in Alaska during the Korean War were asked to give their favorite memories. Dad remembered the kindness and self-sufficiency under harsh conditions that the people unfailingly demonstrated. And the challenges of flying an aircraft during minute-by-minute changing weather conditions.

My dad met his Pilot face to face when he crost the Bar on June 27, 2013. I miss his insights gained from 92 years of experiences

The families need to know that they will be remember and we share in thieir loss.
