Staples Off. Prod. says gunstore owners can't enter contest
Buh buy, Staples. Was nice knowing you.
"A small Nebraska gun shop has decided to buy its ink pens and post-it notes somewhere else after they said Staples rejected their entry into a marketing contest because they are in the firearms business."

Sure did enjoy doing business with them. Will go elsewhere. And will tell them why.

Stupid move on Staples part, but really? The gun shop owner was hoping to win a contest, so on the facebook page for Staples people are saying his rights were violated because his entry was denied??? Gimmieabreak. I suppose then that Chik-Filet violates rights as well by not opening Sunday for the Jewish crowd? They are both businesses, not the government. They have the right to be stupid. Staples is just being more stupid than most.
I imagine the Staples store managers around here are having a cow over corporate idiocy.

Meh.
Are the local liquor stores whining about their feelings being hurt too?

Guess those folks should have read the rules of the contest before they entered and got their poor little feelings hurt. Always good to read the fine print.

I doubt it will hurt their business much... Yeah, some gun owners will boycott them, but at a whole, they won't lose enough business for them to lose sleep over.
But then again, Staples putting all their stipulations in sure does push their political agenda too.. something they don't want from customers..

Its certainly their right to eliminate anyone they want just as its my right to voice my displeasure with their rules and never shop there again.

I wonder if they'd okay a business that does motorcross or mountain biking? I mean, those are dangerous. So is horseback riding and boating and pretty much all sports except maybe golf.
Don't get me wrong, they violated NO rights of anyone and they have every right to run their contests the way they want. If ChikFilet gets to run their business their way, so does Staples. Just like KMart taking all the gun stuff out of their stores, it's their choice.
That doesn't mean I've got to spend any more of MY money in their stores now though, does it? It might not harm the bottom line for the CEO... but it makes me feel like I can back up what I believe in.

A corporation that is politically correct, towards a variety of different customer types?
Shocking.

I am not big on contests. I stopped shopping at Staples because the merchandise was overpriced.

I wonder if every business that carries wine was eliminated. Every grocery or convenience store, restaurant or bar? Every business like rafting, adventure trips, etc.
Reading the small print was probably why the entry was made. Sometime stupid needs to be brought to the attention of those who don't read the small print. Or don't get the point.

It's not rocket science.
They want milk-toast, no possible controversy, banal business entered - only.
Guns ain't it. Wine, probably no one cares, so they may let them slide.
Stupid?
It's business - not an agenda.

Grocery stores would probably be ok... their main function is food, even though they sell alcohol.... But 'Freds Dirt Cheap Discount Cigarettes and Liquor' probably wouldn't make the cut.

It's not about getting feelings hurt
It's about Obama's stupid followers gleefully smirking while their moron of an emperor takes our rights
Staples is just another group of limp wristed Obamatards who love their king more than thjeir country
Idiots all
I hope Staples goes out of business, but I';m sure Obama will give them some money from us
It's how the Chicago mob works

Staples can do whatever they wish, it's their business..
But buy the same token so can I..
Their loss not mine.. I can and will do business elsewhere..

I was a tad more sympathetic towards him until this quote. I hate whining.

Bottom line for me, they are a private company. As such they should be able to make rules to their own liking.
Personally I will not shop at a place that refuses me my rights. I do not have one out here anyway.
The only thing I have ever wanted to get from them was one of those easy buttons, because my Beloved would love to have one.
