I was considering Hawthorne as a place to go to live mortgage-free, perhaps 8 or 10 years ago. The base was supposed to close then, but never did. It was an ammo storage facility back then. They changed the usage of the facility and kept it open.

I wasn't crazy about the Hawthorne area. It is a very bleak place. No trees and no protection from harsh summer weather. But in my quest to live mortgage free I was willing to learn to live with it. I may have ended up there is the base had closed.

This story just makes me so sad, these Marines are our countries finest.

May God surround their families with his love.

Very sad event. Then Harry Reid tried to connect it to the sequester.

It doesn't surprise me at all that a piece of slime like Reid would exploit this tragedy for political purposes.

Disgusting.

Any time you play with explosives training accidents happen. I feel sorry that it must be but so far they haven't found a way to keep it from happening. No body that has served in the military has found a way to keep it from happening and no body in civilian life has found a way to keep it from happening. It is was sad that people were killed but most people in the military accepts it for what it is a training accident.
