Thousands at Capitol protest N.Y. gun-control law

Funny how this hasn't been on most of the main media outlets:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...otest/1954141/

Quote:
ALBANY, N.Y. — Thousands of gun-rights supporters Thursday filled West Capitol Park to protest New York's new gun-control law, seeking its repeal and condemning Gov. Andrew Cuomo who pressed for it.
Signs read, "Cuomo — Take the criminals' guns; leave mine alone" and "Cuomo, Kiss My AR's!" and "Say no to Comrade Cuomo."

Before the rally our brave Governor beat his feet out of town. Typical liberal behavior.

I'm interested to see how much political backlash in NY and CO against this.

Yes, the use of common sense in today is odd when leadership show LITTEL logic or sense just MIGHT.

It seems to late for demonstrations. That should have happen before it became law.

They wrote, introduced, voted and signed it into law in less than
24 HOURS

Quote:
Some protesters said their goal was to oust the Democratic governor from office. They said they disapproved of how the law was passed:
It was introduced, both chambers approved it, and the governor signed it in less than 24 hours.

Does Cuomo remind anyone else of the bad guy (ok, worst guy) in The Godfather?

Great turnout! I know this isn't the first protest for NY......they should make it a weekly event.

Hats off to them! They are doing the exact right thing, coming out in numbers, showing up in person, and being peacable and well behaved, to show their elected representatives how they feel.

Yes, you would think a political protest gathering with 5,000 people in attendance would make the news a little more widely. Surely there isn't any bias in the media? /sarcasm

Why would people elect a person who would pass such a law?
The time to think about it is before you elect such a person.

Gimmiedat voter base won't do anything to ruin their government funded welfare income! And this administration is ALL about increasing that demographic. They do what their told! Free-thinking individuals are decreasing in numbers and the result is loss of freedoms because the gimmiedats don't care about freedom as long as they get their piece of the pie!

It takes only 24 hours to mount a demonstration.

The State of New York is run by New york city. We have little or no influnce over what happens if you live outside of there. Example: the Robert Moses power project on the Niagara river sends the electicity it produces to New York city. Citizens of Western New York Paid for the project and the transmission lines to carry it down there. Upstate NY'ers are nothing more then the slaves of the liberal "Down staters". The vast majority of the taxes we pay go down there. As I understand it, for every dollar I pay in State taxes only .23 cents finds it's way back to my part of the State. The PO factor here is going beyond all compehension. Revolution is very much in the air. A local assemblyman has proposed that upstate NY seperates itself from New York city. Aside from the major liberal bastions of NYC, Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse everyone else is screaming YES!!!! This is such a beautiful State full of some of the most incredible people you could ever hope to meet. But our government is dragging us to hell. Enough is enough. Its ----- kicking time.

Yeah, it is sad. They control the assembly and recently got control of the senate. If you have any conservative thoughts, or live in a rural area you are worse off then a red headed step child. They control everything and there is nothing you can do about it other then taking to the streets.

That doesn't help if it's passed before you hear about it

We saw the same thing when we lived in Illinois and how Chicago was large and in charge. Sad too. Illinois outside of Chicago is truly America's heartland.

there were over 12,000 people at the rally according to Fox news. Not bad for a work day. This is not going to blow over. It's like the government walked into your living room and started screaming orders. I'll be meeting with a few hundred angry people later on today. Anyone who wants to follow whats happening in New York should check out the website www.wnytalks.com for up to date information.
