Exclamation Frozen Delivery

My Mother received a bouquet of roses this week for her birthday. They came from FTD, delivered by UPS. Due to below zero temps here in Minnesota, the flowers arrived frozen. As soon as they warmed up they wilted and died.

So I just wanted to remind everyone to be careful about shipping packages this time of year. The cargo area of Postal trucks, as well as UPS and FedEx trucks are not heated.

Reminds me of the time Dad asked me to pick up 40 red roses for their 40th wedding anniversary as a surprise for Mom. That was not cheap, let me tell you. Being the good daughter I was, I put them in my fridge overnight so they'd stay fresh and not open up until he could surprise her with them the next day. When I went to get them out the next morning, they were frozen solid. Seems I put them too close to the icebox. I felt really awful. He forgave me. Took me a long time to forgive myself.

This is why I won't get my meds delivered. My insurance company forces me every year to opt out of automatic home delivery (it saves them money), but it gets so cold here, I don't want my pressurized asthma inhaler sitting out in my mailbox for any length of time. The opt out is such a hassle.

I ordered some fingerling seed potatoes a couple weeks back and they called to talk to me about delivery. I wanted them here to plant in Early March, but they are afraid to ship until then because of freezing.

I just told them to do the best they can and ship when they feel safe.
