If there was an uprising
Let's suppose for a minute that DC leads us to hyperinflation, or something worse even. Doesn't really matter what, we can all feel that something big is in the air these days and it's likely this fiscal cliff thing is covering the real issue.
So lets suppose for a moment there is a grass roots uprising in America. The people snap and start marching on government buildings, the .gov starts rounding folks up and putting them in these empty prisons we hear about.
What part would you play if any? Would you join the insurrection? Go grey man?

I figured it was safe to vote because they already suspect most of us that frequent S&EP are an insurrection waiting to happen anyway...

Seriously, not enough data to answer. There is so much to an "Uprising" that I couldn't answer.
Example: about 3 out of 4000 things that "Occupy" was protesting, I agree with them on... but they are juxtaposed to most everything I stand for. If they were the face of the uprising, nope...

When TSHTF I am one to stand back and do some good thinking before I go along with the crowd is doing.

Defense of one's self, property and loved ones out of necessity is one thing. To join in an armed rebellion against my community and country is all together different.
I would not join in a rebellion, and I doubt many would. We barely involve ourselves in the political system we have today, at best voting. Why would we take up arms and give up everything when we won't even bother with running for elected office?
Most of us own property, have jobs and have others that depend on us. To fight each other with arms because we differ in political views is a big leap. That feels a lot like sedition. Not in favor of it, never would be, wouldn't be prudent.
I think we have every opportunity through the political system to "fight" for what we believe.

I think the time passed quite a few years ago when voting meant anything.
Today we have the choice of a republican or a democrat.
Not enough difference in them to matter.
They both want the same thing and are going about getting it the same way.
If you vote for a democrat the people loose.
If you vote for a republican the people loose.

It depends on what the 'something big' is.
Coincidentally, our friend Ernie did a post yesterday on this very subject, in which he makes some very good points.

Not really a coincidence. That post got me wondering and so I asked. I'm not sure if the number of views VS the number of votes here means much, but it is interesting.

Looks sort of like there are quite a few that would choose the bottom choice but just don't want to admit it.

I did not vote here either. I can not be pushed, but I can be convinced.

I don't think you completely understand why a person wouldn't put their vote on public display.
Voting for an uprising? Now that's a smart move!

People don't have to vote here.
I don't believe in voting for politicians so I can understand not voting.

I'm already on so many lists, one more won't make a bit of difference.
For the record (and the screeners) I have always supported the PEACEFUL overthrow via the ballot box LOL

Well, my folks did in in 1776, and again in 1861. They were on the winning side the first time, losing side the second. They got pay and pensions each time, go figure!
