Not unless you use part of the rent money to buy the tickets.

No, but its funny how many people who hate the rich play the lottery. If's that's not proof of hypocrisy and class envy, I don't know what is.

No because you actually have to spend money to have any chance of winning.

Isn't that 47% up to 52% now that we see the results of the election.

I play the lottery for $14 per week. If I win the so be it but I play the lottery for the fact that all of the money made is to be spent on scholarships. I know that other states have promised this and then reigned on that promise. I will play until they start to spend it on other things.

So what is the definition again of this 47%? I thought it was people who want something for nothing from the govt (and you must admit that $2 is as close to nothing in comparison with $1 million or $500 million as you can get.) People who think they should get a piece of your earnings?

Ah, but is this money truly coming "from the government"? The lottery is run like a business. The amount you get depends on the amount everyone played. The buying of a lottery ticket is voluntary (not forced taxation of our hard earned income). Finally, there is no "promise" of winning. There is no "safety net" if you lose your last dollar playing the lottery.

IMO, there is absolutley no comparison between the lottery and the welfare entitlements that the 47% have learned to rely on. Do you see it differently?

Origionaly the 47% comment was to meen that (and ONLY that) 47 % of the country would vote Dem. Then it got all turned arround into something else. Just like "womans issues" ect.

If he had JUST said that, it wouldn't have been a story. What made it into an issue was when he KEPT talking, and veered off into rightwing fantasy land...

Romney: All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what.

And Romney was 100% correct in what he said. And the Winning of Obama Proved that.

I don't purchase lottery tickets. It's a tax on people who are bad at math...

That said, what in the world does your question have to do with "the 47%" I've read a couple of your "clarifications" and really I don't see the logical connection to people playing the lottery and entitlements.

Gambling is a game of chance were everyone who enters it pays the same fee and has the same chance of winning.

Entitlements is a game of manipulation where a portion of the people receiving benefits have never contributed to the kitty.

Games of chance... people don't expect to win. They DREAM and HOPE to win.

Entitlements... by their very definition people EXPECT to have available.

Seriously, I don't get your question.

Had you asked, "Are people who play the lottery usually poor people who can't afford it"? or "How much does the lottery COST the economy?" those would be legitimate questions.

Oh... and "Like" my post and I promise to split any lottery winnings in the next year that I get with you.

Everything he stated was true.
The "fantasy" is your implication everything he said applied to ALL the 47%.

The only thing that made it an "issue" was some don't like hearing the truth, since it all fits a LARGE portion of his loyal subjects, and you know it's just the facts

No.
But if you win, you are now one of the *"Rich" that must be taxed more to pay your *"Fair" share.

*Rich- The New definition of Rich.
*Fair- The New definition of Fair.

O geez. I bought a fat stack of tickets with a friend. He and I sat around for a few hours fantasizing about buying a private island and all the fun stuff we would do, and who we would bring along.

Lighten up people. Its a lottery with proceeds that benefit education. Why bring Romney into it and rain on the parade.

LOL!! That may be what he MEANT, but that is NOT what he said. And his off the cuff, disconnected millionaire rant cost him dearly.

Since its NOT the truth, the thing that made it an issue was he went TOO FAR, and said 47% of Americans were leeches. That did not go over too well. You can spin it all you want, but that statement, and the whole conversation, revealed the true Mitt... and folks didn't like it.
