Driver's licenses for illegals in Illinois
Here's another way to ensure more votes for the next election, reward those who come here illegally and don't ask for ID to vote. It amazes me that a person here illegally can walk into a DMV office and get a license with no risk of being deported. If it isn't bad enough to reward those who are breaking the law, we are also encouraging those competing for jobs at 8.8 unemployment rate here.

Illinois is one of the most Liberal, Left-leaning States in the Union. Why would it be a surprise, that they give all sorts of benefits to "Illegals"?
It kinda ticks me off, but.......No surprise to me.

I have to disagree with Old John about Illinois being liberal. The Illinois politicians are the most DISHONEST in the US! Nothing to do with being liberal!

Sadly people repeatedly vote the corrupt politicians back in to office as was evident by the last presidential election. Yes Illinois is run by liberals thanks to Chicago and St.Louis. Rewarding those who break the law will ensure it stays that way.

Well we are obligated by law to accept children who are here illegally into our public schools, paid for by taxpayer dollars, and to educate them.... which includes providing them free breakfast/lunch, and hiring special teachers who teach them English (at a huge cost to the local taxpayers).
Why not give them driver's licenses and let them vote, too? <sarcasm>
I'll never forget when I was pregnant with my son last year and had no insurance. I was paying for all my doctor visits out of pocket at the local health dept, and when he was scheduling me for my ultrasound the doctor there told me "It's a shame you're not an illegal....they get free ultrasounds as part of a federal grant. Since you're a legal, tax-paying citizen, it's gonna cost you $300-$400 out of pocket  "
So since I was born in the USA, have been working and paying into the system since I was a teenager (until I became unemployed last year), I got to pay for my ultrasound. If I had snuck across the border, I'd have gotten it for "free" - courtesy of the taxpayers of the USA. Nice, huh?

Did anyone even bother to read the attached article?
Apparently they are driving, regardless, so this is a way to gain some control, since they are not going to be deported anyway.

Gain control? What makes anyone think that they will apply for one. Those driving now don't buy insurance and don't have a legal SS#. Why don't we just enforce the current laws. I guess it's just easier to ignore the ones that don't suit us.

Not only that, but look up Public Aid eligibility in IL if you want a real eye opener.
Illegal and need help? No problem. The state will give you X amount of dollars per child and you will not have to prove citizenship, show an ID or Social Security number in order to get it.
Many are making more per month than we are thanks to their big families. Some are receiving up to 53,000 dollars per year off the state and are not even US citizens.
So Illinois now wanting to give them drivers licenses also? Not surprised. We are just glad we got out when we did. More surprised that there isn't a stampede of Americans clogging up the bridges across the Mississippi fleeing from this silliness.
No wonder the state is almost bankrupt.
