Police taser blind man.

Yep, gotta watch out for those blind people and their white sticks. They're mighty dangerous...

"A policeman faced an investigation today for tasering a blind man in the street after he mistook his white stick for a Samurai sword."

""I hit my head on the floor, then this policeman came around. I said 'I'm blind, I'm blind. I'm blind'.

"This policeman knelt on me and dragged my arms round my back and handcuffed me so tight I've had bruises since.

"I said 'you're hurting me, I'm blind' - and there's no way he could not have seen my stick on the floor.

"I walk at a snail's pace. They could have walked past me, driven past me in the van, or said drop your weapon.

"It's a sad excuse. They wouldn't even stop when I said I'm blind. I was absolutely terrified. I thought any second I'm going to have another stroke and this one will kill me."

That is a fine example of a cop that should be removed from duty.
Also he should take a drug test.

What he really needs is to have new glasses and a education. Mistaking a white cane for a Samurai sword is unbelievable.I might be persuaded to think that he thought it was a club.

Especially with the newer ones I've seen.. They have a larger red ball on the end that emits a tone..

This officer is just another example of bad policing.. There seems to be a lot of this lately..

That's what happens when high school bullies grow up, and get a badge.

Thats what I was thinking. which I assume is a lie. Which then implies, this officer simply thinks this is how the job is done, nd will lie about it when called out....

A bit disturbing, this trend seems to be increasing.

Part of that cop's sentence should be to be taser'd half a dozen times and then fired.

There is just no excuse.......

I can close my eyes and invision a blind person swing their cane around searching for a curb .. . . . . .
And a cop is threatened by that. . . .?????????????

Just another reason to justify my lack of trust for LEO's in general. LEO's will have to earn my trust, each one individually. I know there are some great ones out there. They just have to prove it, the badge alone is no longer enough.

Can you imagine being blind and not knowing you were going to be tasered?

This happened in jolly, old England . . . we should understand that even

though they do speak the same language, they do have a different way

of doing things and we shouldn't impose our values on how they handle

blind people. You wouldn't want them trying to influence our politics or

telling us how to run our national healthcare program, would you?

We should keep our noses out of their business and vica-versa.

I've been making notes to stay safe:

Never carry a cane, even if blind.
Never carry a pen, if missing an arm and leg and driving a wheel chair.
Never wear a hoodie, anywhere.

As I recall, English police do not carry guns. After reading this all I can say is thank goodness for this poor man they only carry tasers!

Yes, when police are called to arrest a guy with a sword, they should face the man that seems to be weilding a sword, just in case he might be blind?
If the policeman was simply driving around and saw what looked like a sword and tazered the guy, that's too far. But since he was sent out to locate a man with a sword, that is what he is focused on. You don't bring a fist to a knife fight, so why would you bring a fist to a sword fight?
If you run past a Bank following a robbery and the police yell, " Stop, or I'll shoot!", you better stop and see who they are yelling at.
Swords can be thrown some distance. It wouldn't be safe to get close.
A young police officer in my community was shot and killed, last month, when responding to a domestic disturbance. He leaves behind a wife and three children. Maybe if the would have "over-reacted" he would be alive today.

They always do an internal investigation and then find that the policeman did nothing wrong. Same old, same old. We are at their mercy it seems.

My wife's cousin is a Bobby in Birmingham. So it is not hard to remember that they do carry a gun sometimes.
