Happy National Left handed day!

Is anyone left handed?

What are some of the obstacles that you've had to overcome being a lefty?

For me it was scissors, they didnt have left handed ones in kindergarten so I had to learn to use right handed scissors.

I also had to learn to throw right handed, because my mother couldn't find a right handed glove when I started playing baseball. I still cannot throw left handed or cut with left handed scissors because of that.

But everything else I do left handed.

My parents and two brothers are left handed, while I am the only right handed one..... talk about bizzaro world.

I throw right handed, bat left in baseball. Football is throw rightie, kick and punt leftie.

Can shoot either way (prefer right) write either hand and can play guitar with both. If drawing plans or something, will do it left handed, but if just drawing pictures or with kids, do it right handed.

I ran into an obstacle early in life.We had fountain pens and inkwells in country school and the pen point would dig into the paper when writting left handed.I just had to be very careful and got thru it.I did have to do some things right handed.

Guess I have the best of both worlds, I am ambidextrous. When I was in school teachers kept trying to force using my right hand but stubborn person that I was I used which ever was handy..

Had to learn to shoot a bow right handed because left-handed bows were 100.00 more.

I'm also a leftie, and like Fowler, I HAD to use right-handed scissors since that's all that was available.

Thanks for the reminder! My sister is a southpaw, so I'll be sure to pay her a left-handed compliment today.

I'm a lefty, but I wasn't supposed to be. I burned my right hand badly grabbing the shade of a kerosene lamp at 2 years old. It took 2 surgeries, and over a year to get it working again. By then, I'd learned to do without it and just continued being a lefty.

Funny thing, for intricate manipulation I use my right.

Boy, I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

remember in kindergarden my teacher kept smacking my hand when I used the left one to write with...it took my dad going in for a 'chat' with her to straighten it out. Still a lefty!! Of course, that was over 40 years ago-doubt anyone would dream of doing that now.
