Preps do we need them?
In the Assault Gun thread every body got me thinking about what we need. It makes no since to have something we do not need. So if you don't need to prep now you can do it when you need it so the answer is no. Why do something that cost a lot of money for something you may need or may not need. There is no reason to have more than 2 days of food in your house and the medical supplies that most likely won't need at all. I think that if they put a ban on anything because of the need they should put a ban on everything that is not needed. Make one car so that everybody can have a car if needed make one pickup so that if you need a truck make one type of a house and do away with campers but use tents ( a small one) to camp with if it becomes a need.
Of course this is said in sarcasm but those that are for banning everything because of need will agree with this.

Old Vet Glad you brought this up . I know i don't need any of those things well the other day i was thinking i might need another gun you know a odd numbers don't get it and that years supply of food . But then i thought about all those folks if the economy were to crash well i'd just set up and pass it out to the less prepared .
And i'm sure the local PD will have a gun turn in place where they'll give you a hundred bucks per gun on bringin that evil thing in .Well i could clean up i give them a pistol i gave a thousand for they give me a hundred .I could donate that to the Dem party as a jester of good will too .
Because you needs a 629 Classic S&W stainless with full metal tang and custom handles .
I get right on it Thanks a bunch

I think everyone should be limited to 2 cans of food, 6 eggs, 4 slices of bacon. 1 tomato, and one onion.
Absolutely no substitution or overages. People do not really need anything else.
You can thank me later.

This thread title just ruffles my feathers a bit -
Glad it's sarcasm - I was worried about Old Vet posting it.

"It makes no since to have something we do not need."
That other thread wasn't about having something we do not need. It was about having something OTHER PEOPLE don't think we need.
When they prove to me that I NEED to live my life by THEIR opinions, then I will listen to them when they tell me what I need.

I was careful to put that in because of those that read part of a post. But when you read all of it it makes since. When people ask the question is it really need always think of this. There are few needs in the world and when you use it to ban something you need to use it for everything that is not a need.

Well I guess no one needs more than 1 roll of tp. And surely none of you need that extra cash you got laying around or molding away in the bank. Send your surplus to me and I will redistribute it to someone who really needs it.
(please keep in mind that I am continuing the sarcastic tone of the op)

Well, I sure made a lot of space yesterday. Hauled all my extra food down to the homeless camp and gave it away. I saw where congress is exempting Missouri from tornados and floods.
And, once I realized there were laws against violence, I threw all my guns & ammo in the river.
Boy, it sure is nice to be protected!

Yep, not to worry, Nanny is there to protect you 24 hours a day from the cradle to the grave. Don't bother calling the cops and asking them any questions about things like "response time". No NEED to worry about that.

Need? hmmm.... That is a stronger idea than just having something because it is wise. I don't think we NEED a lot of things on hand in case of anarchy per se, but I do think it is wise, very wise, to keep some extra food on hand and some extra meds. Just last week they didn't have my prescription med at the drug store, and had to order it in. What if I had waited to reorder until I was completely out of it? It is a heart med, carvedilol, and you can't just wait for it to come in for two days without taking it. I mean, I could have just gotten a day's worth of the smaller dose and doubled up, but that would have cut them short for someone else's script.
I think it is very financially wise to buy food, and other needed products at sale prices and stock up for when the prices are higher. And I think it is wise to look ahead at possible hard times like in case of a job loss or depression/recession with inflation. So, no, we may not be in desperate NEED of everything, but it is wise to have a pantry of your needed foods and things.
