Last time I was in Deadwood, I was 18 years old.....

Went on vacation with a friend and his parents....my first time out west.

Awesome country.

Wyoming was the goal but we camped in/near Deadwood for a night.
My friend and I walked around a bit, and what did we find but a retired logger/Stihl chainsaw dealer.
We sat around in his garage/shop listening to stories and swapping cash for all manner of timber tools and gadgets he had lying around.
I think we both did all right for the trades and the visit.

I envy you. Love that country.......

That's the Deadwood we went to :-)
No snow, but it rained and there was ice on the deck at the hotel this morning.
We didn't win much, but some of the other people we went with did OK.
Friday night we ate at the Mineral Palace, their Prime Rib was excellent, and the Chicken fried steaks are just huge.
We hit a lot of the shops, casinos and historical stuff on Saturday and last night we all ate at the Deadwood Lodge.
There's so much to see and do, you just can't get to it all in a couple days.
We made the drive up through Hot Springs and Custer instead of going through Rapid City. Very pretty drive that way but it takes a little longer.
We had a good time but I was happy to get back to my flatland and wide open spaces.
All those trees and hills kinda wear me down after a while.
If you get a chance to go, do, there's something for everybody there.
