Hoodies in the News... irony or bad timing?

Just got through watching the 'breaking news' on one of the Shreveport, La television stations. Leading off was a shotgun robbery... crime watch was offering a reward for info on the guy... WEARING a hoodie! Of course, he's unidentifiable, except for his hands.

Immediately following this incidence of another hoodie committing a felony, they announced a hoodie rally the next night.

I almost blew out my ice cream.... that's crazy... wonder if the Black owned and operated station saw the irony of their scheduling of stories?

I rarely watch the station, or any of the local stations.... would be nice if the owner would come on and ask for everyone to give their hoodies a time out... the owner does sometimes do an editorial, most of which I agree with!

If I am in a convenience store or something of that nature and someone walks in with a hoodie on, my hand automatically eases into my pocket or wherever my firearm may be and stays there until I determine that there is no threat to my safety. Lots of 'hoodlums' use hoodies to protect their identities while committing crimes. And I could care less about the color of the person's skin that is wearing the hoodie. White, black, red or yellow. My hand will be on or very close to my pistol.

Which TV station in Shreveport do you think is black owned and operated? And what does that have to do with anything.
And hoodies are popular for all kids and young people black, white or any color in between.

KSLA, Channel 12.
What does it have to do with anything? They "have to" report the hard news, and there's a hoodie segment several times a week (or more... did I mention I rarely watch the local stations??? I do listen to the radio while outside though, and there's killin's on a regular basis in Shreveport/Bossier)... but then they do tow the MSM liberal agenda, spouting off why we all can't get along, and everyone show up at one of the local hoodie gatherings/marches.

Hoodies may be popular for all young people.... trouble is: Not all hoodies are hoodlums, but ALL Hoodlums wear Hoodies. Make sense??? If I were going to rob a liquor store, I'd dang sure have on a hoodie. Every thugster out there knows you can't get ID'd if you wear a Hoodie. IT is the clothing of choice for thugs.

If you have kids, are you telling em it's OK to wear their hoodies in places of business? or, are you setting them down and telling them they may get their Junk Shot, if they wear them? Hopefully you're telling em it'd be best if they hung their hoodies up for a while, till all the blood lust blows over... or until thugs stop wearing them to hide their identities, when they commit crimes.

The only place I would wear one at the moment is here on my property. Surely not into any kind of business or bank.

Umm, the general manager of KSLA is white and I'm not positive but I think they are owned by a corporation.
Yes there is a lot of crime in Shreveport/Bossier. But just as often as it was someone in a hoodie, it was a redneck white guy in a baseball cap.
We lived there for over 10 years and even with all the crime there were very few times that I didn't feel safe. And I was all over town including the bad parts going to garage and thrift stores.

I managed a convience store for years. Company policy was no one in the store with anything covering their face or head. No sunglasses on inside. We had a sign on the door. In all the years I was there, I only ever had one complaint. A teenage kid who was a known shoplifter
Obviously, we made exceptions when warranted.
I see nothing wrong with asking people to do this. It's a matter of safety. We told them flat out it was so the camaras could see them.

Also wear a hoodie much of the time. Used to wear them when they were just hooded sweatshirts and hard to find. Nothing warmer in the winter than to have your neck covered. Instant head cover in the rain. Wear them to to work and anywhere I go.

Don't have the hood up without a weather related reason!

Heh, I wear my hoodie alot and I wear bandannas on my head even more, keeps those wispy hairs out of my face when I'm working, one of those hankies is bound to be some gang's color. I'd be surprised if someone took my middle-aged farm mom self as a danger to themselves though. Picking just one thing (hoodie) about anyone to use as an identifying sign of their motives is a pretty lazy form of analysis, especially when it's so prevalent. Even my mother has been known to wear one, although she wouldn't call it a "hoodie" and she wouldn't dream of wearing something so sloppy to town.

Not funny ha ha, but funny as in funny you should say that..........
Watching the news one night was a bit on a bank that got robbed by an unarmed and extremely polite young man wearing a mask and using his "yes ma'ams, excuse me's, and thank you's". Only part you could see of him on the bank video was his hands. I knew immediately who he was. No question.
