Bill proposed to surtax ammo in Illinois.

They never stop. Now a representative, from Chicago of course, has introduced a bill to add a 2% surtax to ammo to fund trauma centers in high crime areas. That's code for Chicago and East St. Louis. Why should those of us in the rest of the state pay extra to offset costs in Chicago? It would make more sense to tax gold teeth, hair weaves, and bling. That way they would be taxing both the people who put people in their trauma centers and the people who use them. I hate this state.

Illinois does have it's problems. It isn't so bad if you stay out of the city though. What area of Illinois are you from? I'm about 60 miles SW of Chicago and if it wasn't for picking people up at the airport probably wouldn't go there more then once or twice a year.

A tax on those NOT causing problems won't help anything.
It's just another brick in the Wall

Jim, I understand Poppys frustration. I am about 70 w of Chicago.
Politicly Illinois is controlled by Chicago politicians, that is due to population density I believe. The problem as i see it is that Illinois is basicly a rural state. By that I mean area wise. The people who live in Chicago have very little in common with the rest of the state, well them and a couple of the other large metro areas, mainly St Louis. Even Rockford is different from Chicago.
For example, we subsidize the transportation system in Chicago so they can have a bus and train system with low rates while we have little or no systems in the rest of the state. For example, the nearest bus is about 20 miles west of me and the nearest train depot for passenger service is about 40 miles yet portions of my tax dollars go to their system. Plus we still have to have a vehicle, licience plates, insurance and pay for $3.50 cent gas just to get to work.
It just seems politicly everything seems to be a one way street.

I'm over 200 miles south of Chicago and have never been in the city in my life but I used to get parking violation tickets from them quite often. Go figure. I took them to our local state's attorney and he handled it. He said they were sending them to a lot of people and some were dumb enough to pay them.

Another fine example of corruption from your friends the unions, the mob and most of the left.

I understand his frustration too. I didn't mean to down play the problems. All in all it isn't a bad place to live.

Take a look at this website on school superintendents salaries in Illinois but you might want to get a bottle of Tums first.
