Clack Clack Clack Clack Clack Clack

Grrrrrrrr.

I hate hate hate it when women where high heel shoes that clack clack clack down the hallway. Always have. But, today, I was doing some reading that I needed to really concentrate on and all I heard, every two minutes, was clack clack clack clack.

Why do women wear those things? I never clack, so I know that it isn't just that all high heels make this noise -- there are definitely high heels out there that don't announce to everyone in a 5 mile radius that you are walking by.

Is this a ridiculous pet peeve of mine, or are there others out there that just cringe when a Clacker walks by?

sorry Feral it's part of the uniform - lol..seriously I bought heels two weeks ago and tried on about ten pair and every one of them "clacked" - our floors are marble tile and not only was I trying to get quiet heels but heels that would not slip on the marble.

Well I finally found one pair that wouldn't slip, but they still clack. Oh well, I get paid whether I clack or not..wish we had carpet everywhere, but it is what it is where I work.

I did find one pair of shoes that were rubber soled dress shoes and I snatched them up, unfortunately they don't go with dresses, but I try to wear pants at least three times a week so I can wear those shoes.

I think women shoes were made by men who hate women anyway...
I live for causal Fridays when I can wear jeans and sneakers to work!

It bugs me big time, but only at work.

Partly because it is unnecessarily distracting and partly because I have come to the conclusion the only reason to wear them is to draw attention to yourself. We are supposed to draw attention to our self at work, with our work...not our shoes.

No, you aren't the only one!

When the rubber pad come off the heel, and they are walking on a little round headed nail, the average woman can destroy marble, wood, just about any hard surface floor.

A study was done, showing that a 115 pound woman puts more pressure per square inch on a floor, concentrated on that little round headed nail, than an elephant.

I don't where high heels, but my feet have a tendency to slap when I walk because I have drop foot.

I didn't know elephants wore high heels!!

I don't like clackers either. I have a couple of pair of dress shoes that clack, and I'm always terribly embarrassed if I have to wear them. I try to walk so they don't clack, but I end up walking like John Wayne and it looks strange, like I have to go to the bathroom or something.

Maybe you could invent and patent anti-clacking pads for noisy shoes? Some kind of space-age adhesive and slip-resistant ergonomic pads to go on the soles and heels... then they would sell them in Wal Mart, Walgreens and Dollar General on the 'As Seen On TV' shelf. You'd be rich!!

I was walking through the hospital one day, and had a random stranger comment about all the noise my flip flops were making.

My uniform of choice includes heels at work. Some of my shoes & dressy boots clack and others don't. Some brands and styles are worse than others. If you look for a pair of heels with a flexible sole (one that has at least some give when you try to bend the shoe with your hands), they are less likely to clack. Certain brands are better than others, too. If I'm going to be on my feet a lot and feel that I must wear heels, I find that the Naturalizer brand works very well (comfort wise) and is less likely to clack.

I did a search and found this article about comfortable shoes. Though it is about dressy shoes in general, it does name the brands that tend to be most comfortable and they will be a little less likely to clack!

1. They are feminine.
2. They can make a woman with shorter legs, appear to have longer legs.
3. They are an accessory. Just like a bag, earrings, etc.
4. They put the exclamation point on an outift.
5. They look nice.
6. Shoes 'speak' about about the person.
7. They could be part of a uniform

I used to wear very high heels-never made a sound. Is it the shoes or the wearer?

Clacking doesn't bother me at all, but the sound of someone dragging their heels sends me over the edge.

Yes, high heels are horrible for everyone especially the gal wearing them. They will totally ruin her feet. Why do they wear them----Hollywood tells them they are sexy and the only style and lots of women are needy enough to following like sheep.

I have a pair of Circa Joan & David patent leather buckle pumps that are the most comfortable shoes I own outside of my barn boots. I just love those things!

No, they make her look ridiculously out of proportion. In extreme cases, they look like they are wearing stilts. Gotta look at the whole picture, not just the hips down.

I click when I walk. I wear a cast-boot on my right foot. I feel like peg-leg Pete. I do notice that people turn to look and I'm sorry it bothers them. I can't do a thing about it for another few weeks. Then hopefully, I'll be back in my leather flats.

If the heels are doing their job, I never get far enough down to admire the shoes

Yeah... oink, oink.

totally disagree.
if you are wearing 6 inch heels, that you don't know how to walk in, then yeah, I'd say you are right. Especially if the woman has a VERY short torso.

But a 3 inch heel, that you can walk in like tennis shoes....makes the legs appear longer.

I may be a clacker. What sound do cowboy boots make?

My DW knows my exact location in the most crowded store and when I come into the same isle she looks in my direction from the far end like she has RADAR.

I am musical so when I hear sounds I start in on a song in my head that goes with the beat. Frees my soul.

Oh I would take a thousand high heel wearers over one flip flop scuff-slap, scuff-slap, scuff-slap.
It's like nails on a blackboard.
