Wow, 96, he had a good long run. Loved him as Col. Potter on MASH. Saw him in a movie here and there, too. May he RIP

M*A*S*H* ran so long it recycled characters. He first appeared as a crazy colonel wanting a black helicopter pilot to tap dance for him.

My kids know him from "The Apple Dumpling Gang" movies and "Support Your Local Sheriff." But he will always be Col. Potter to me. RIP Harry.

I hope he was paid well for his work because I certainly enjoyed his efforts on MASH and the few dragnet episodes I saw. Glad he had a long life!

Pulled my old M*A*S*H tapes out tonight as a farewell...
RIP and thanks for the laughs.
Or, should I say..."Good-bye, Farewell and Amen" as the show's finale was titled

Matt

Besides his 4 sons, Harry also had 2 step-daughters from the marriage to his 2nd wife 'Barbara Bushman Quinne' (1986 to the present). Harry's two stepdaughters are very good friends with my front neighbors, and currently the neighbor's wife is in LA with the oldest step-daughter, for providing moral support at this time.

Here is to Harry's 1st movie role in a bit part as "Mouthy" the Marine - in the film 'To The Shores Of Tripoli'. I have found it my collection and have cued it up on VHS tape, to watch it with the neighbor tomorrow evening!

I liked his countdown to retirement where he tells Hawkeye and BJ he has so many months , weeks and days until his retirement and seeing his wife and barbecueing on his patio in Hannibal Mo. and he looked at them and asked "Why are you boys trying to wee wee on my charcoal?".

RIP Col Potter
My most memorable MASH is when he and the gang drink the Bottle that he and his 4 best friends from WW1 saved for the last one of the group to savory a toast for them. Wish I could remember the speech he made it was great.

Here ya go. I still had the DVD with Old Soldiers in my TV from yesterday.

Here's to you, boys.
To Ryan, who died in W.W.I, the war to end all wars.
To Gianelli, who died in the war after that.
To Stein, the joker of the crowd.
And to Gresky, my best friend who just passed away in Tokyo.
You were the friends of my youth.
My comrades through thick and thin and everything in between.
I drink to your memories.
I loved you fellows, one and all.
