Electric Bills About to Spike

Thanks to new regulations.

http://powerwall.msnbc.msn.com/polit...-1703389.story

Quote:
Already weary of high gas prices and 9.1 percent unemployment, many Americans are about to get another kick in the wallet thanks to large increases in their electricity bills.

From Alaska to Georgia and Wyoming to Florida, utilities are seeking permission to pass on hundreds of millions of dollars in new charges to customers to help upgrade aging infrastructure and build new or retrofitted power plants that comply with tougher environmental regulations, a Daily Beast review of regulatory filings has found.
Quote:
The pending rate hikes are bad news for poor and elderly Americans on tight budgets, as Congress and the White House begin making cuts to programs that help people cope with their utility bills. One program in particular, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, was slashed during the budget negotiations earlier this year, and is slated for even deeper reductions this fall.
There is NO WAY that the Democrats didn't foresee these consequences in everything they've done so far, from health care to financial and now energy. It really couldn't be more obvious. The question to ask yourself is 'why?'.

In the meantime, get ready for more pain.

It's not like we weren't warned this is what those regulations would result in.

Obama foresaw the consequences, I'm sure. Remember when he said, "...gas prices would necessarily skyrocket..." ?

Just heard that two power generating plants here in Tx. have shut down because of EPA regs. Obama said that energy rates would necessarily skyrocket. Well, it's happening.

This is a double whammy. The replacement units will run on natural gas meaning anyone who uses natural gas for heating will see another big hike in utility bills. Reminds me of that scene in the movie Animal house.

Thank you Obama! May I have another?

Wasn't it: "...under my plan, energy prices will necessarily skyrocket."?

Hence, my wife no longer balks at my solar projects. Granted, she still finds some of them unattractive.

Well maybe if the folks have to walk to a voting booth with their teeth chattering and their belly growling for food,,they will not be so star struck with Obama Fever, and will vote against the usurper in chief next time.

Something like that. That portion of his speech is all over youtube, but I haven't watched it in a long while.

Our power company National Grid asks for an increase every year. This was going on long before president Obama. They claimed that those increases were to upgrade aging infrastructure but they never actually upgrade anything until it completely fails.

The last time National Grid asked for an increase, they were shot down after an investigation was lauched. It seemed that they were billing things to NY power customers that actually installed in other states. Get your state's Attorney General involved. NY has had several strong attorney agenerals over the past 10 years who have fought a lot of consumer fraud. (Despite his extra-curricular activities, Eliot Spitzer was a phenomenal AG as was Andrew Cuomo.)

Well, if there are new regulations coming down the pike, I can see how this rate increase could be different; i.e. companies are going to be forced by the federal government to make the upgrades.

I wouldn't count on it.

Vote Democrat signs are already starting to litter the yards here in liberal land.
