A good USPS story

Got a call about 11 this morning that my latest shipment of Cornish X was at the post office. I didn't get there until a little after 12. I go into the back mail sorting room to pick them up and the girls working back there had taken them out of the shipping box and put them in a big box with a couple bowls of water. I thought that was pretty cool.

USPS gets bashed undeservedly, too often, IMO. I have great service often from them, many, many times.

They always contact us, when our chicks are with reasonable driving distance, at another Post Office. We would rather do this than wait, for that last leg to our own PO.

We'll miss them (at least a bit) when they are gone.

Our USPS LOVES baby chick season! They have a big sorting table set up where they keep the boxes heated or cooled as needed. We ordered a box of dyed chicks one year and they begged me to open the box in the office so they could take pictures of the little neon fluffy butts they were seeing through the vent holes.

The UPS man who delivered our last order was a real sweetheart!

It was a big clumsy box and he brought it in and put in such a position that I could still maneuver my electric scooter in the kitchen!

All you ever hear about USPS workers is the bad things. They are people too and have good and bad among them but I believe most are good people.

As a former postal employee I was led to believe it was illegal to open another's mail. lol

Did one of the employees teach them to drink by dipping a beak into the water?

Well, our post office here called one morning to tell us the chicks had arrived, and when K got there to pick them up they had left them on the back porch in 40 degree weather because they 'made too much noise inside'.

Thankfully, they were all fine, but I was not happy about that.

Where I live, I'm supposed to go to the PO to pick them up. My chicks had arrived, but my cell was malfunctioning. The Postal workers were concerned for the chicks well being, so one of worked drove her own car out to my house to deliver the chicks to me.
They got a big thank you & a bag of cookies too.

I have had very good dealings with my local post office in Georgia, they called me when my peepers came in and because it was cold, they had put them in an office where there was a space heater, I thought that was nice. They were all crowded around the box peeking in through the holes when I got there.

I haven't had any experience like that up here in Huntsville yet, but I believe that there are good and bad in every profession.

Got my peepers yesterday. The P.O. called at 7 am and we had them home by 7:30. I don't think that branch was used to getting chicks in. The lady that called sounded a little odd that there were chicks in a box in her facility. She was very nice, but sounded a little almost confused.

Most USPS people are good people but there are a lot that just dont care. Most of those are in the spots that don't have contact with customers. I think those are the people that give all the others a bad name.

I've only had one bad experience with the USPS, and I fixed it with a ----y fax to my Congressman (yeah, overkill, but I was MAD...tried to send my husband a care package while he was in Iraq, and the stupid person wouldn't let me ship it, and told me a bunch of bogus reasons as to why I couldn't...)

Otherwise, all my experiences with the USPS have been great, they are ALWAYS my preferred carrier for anything, and I will even pay more to buy from an eBayer that uses them as their primary carrier. (Too many years of living in HI and AK, got darn tired of the BS about ground shipping from UPS and FedEx, and the ridiculously overpriced charges to get things there. USPS works JUST FINE for me!)

I used to do some consulting for a hatchery and it is illegal for postal employees to open the boxes. However, whenever we heard that an employee did provide water or food to chicks, we were extremely grateful. So if a postal employee in your area does something like this, do not send a letter praising their actions...they can get fired for doing so!

I have had contact with multiple USPS offices and employees. I have never had anything put positive experiences with them.

Most people aren't aware that many post offices are infested with crickets. Crickets are shipped through the mail in bulk for fishermen, and they often escape. You don't realize that crickets smell bad until you smell a box with thousands of them. Customers also ship chicks, bees, and several other critters, but the chicks and bees don't escape as much as the crickets.
