Pics of some of the flooding in PA

Here are pics of the flooding at our homestead from Wed and Thur. The river still hasn't crested, so the Codorus creek will continue to rise as it backs up..

Taken from the back door with a phone, so sorry for the poor quality..

The rest can be seen here;

My goodness! No water in your house (I hope)?

I did have to chuckle at the other pic of those steps that you titled 'New Water Feature'. Indeed!

Best wishes to you, friend. I hope you're spared any damage.

Wow! that looks bad !

I am from W. Pa but lived near Emigsville on a property bordering the Codorus back in 1986-87. I lived across the creek from the incinerator.

I'm out at the Old Iron Furnace, we have the Iron Masters house.. Or should I say what's left of it...

The Old Flint mill below the house along with the flint Kiln are flooded and the kiln took a direct hit from a tree, so it has toppled or is badly damaged..Can't really tell yet, will have to wait till the water goes down.. Not that they mattered, just nice to see pieces of history still standing. But I can't afford to restore them, so what happens, happens...

Yea it started coming in the back door..

Did you know that Walmart (plastic) bags can be used as sand bags? Well that is what we filled with sand and used to help keep the water out.. Along with turning 2 wheelbarrows over on their sides and the silage cart to help re-direct the water away from the back door.. It worked for the most part...

If the water hadn't come into the house I wouldn't have minded the "New Water Feature", because when the rain ends it would go away.. Unfortunately that wasn't the case..

But I've already come up with a few ideas to keep this from happening again...

Thanks, we do appreciate it, but give the prayers to those that lost everything, we just had a damage floor and some wet woodworking tools in the garage.. The floor it damaged is one I haven't replaced yet, so now I just may get to it sooner, rather than later..

At the time of this post I can tell that the Susquehanna is cresting (for the 2nd time today).. There is an eerie quiet/calm outside.. Normally we can hear the Codorus creek babbling along, but when the Susquehanna river backs up it also backs up the creek and the water for a little while actually flows up stream, which makes it quiet.. But this is a good sign, it means it will start receding soon. But I would hazard a guess and say the road won't be open till at the earliest Monday afternoon. Then we get to see what kind of damage there is..
I do know that on the other side of the bridge there is a huge sink hole, which covers at least one lane, and we don't know what kind of damage was done to the bridge. There is a huge pile of debris up against it..
But that is all minor compared to those who lost everything, including their homes/houses. We are all safe here and our prayers go out to those who need the help.
