Bought your Chevy Volt yet?

Better hurry, they are selling like hotcakes. They sold 125 of them just last month to bring their total sales to almost 2500. Typical of a government sponsored entity, GM's answer to the sales problem is to ramp up production to 5,000 Volts a month.

Can't be too bad of a car for Motor Trend to recognize it as car of the year for 2011.
But the price is just a tad out of my range.

Next thing will be mandatory Volt purchases.
I wouldn't put it past Obama to just squeeze us a little more.

Ya and if everybody drove one, that would not solve a dern thing in energy. Cause many coals plants would have to be opened and mined in order to charge the dern thing. That would put a little crimp in the green movement now wouldn't it? Haha

I'm perfectly happy with my 1980 F150 and 1988 S10.

If they weren't so expensive I think folks would be buyin' em...

I like the Chevy Cruze much better, especially the Eco Cruze. They are reasonably priced with extremely good gas mileage.

Motor Trend? I didn't know they were still around. Automobile writers used to live in a different world. After reading that about the Volt, I'm guessing they live in an alternative universe these days.

Motor Trend does a vote of "car enthuseasts (sp?)" to determine car of they year. The vote was done before a single Volt was on the streets. Makes one wonder what the critirea was is voting for it. Kind of like voting for the Hiesman trophy winner before the seasons even started.

Usually the second place car is the better car. In this case I think that would be the Hyundia Sonata. Leaf came in third.

I won't even consider a Volt because it is not what it was hype'd up to be.

You forgot the 1 at the beginning of that price. More like $139.95. Not your typical car battery in those.

If it wasn't a Chevy and didn't cost so much we would consider one. That and a solar array to charge the batteries.

Aside from the price, they're just not reasonable for those of us who live rurally. I have to drive too far to get to things. They'd have to start putting charging stations in every third cornfield. Wait, forget I said that. Don't want to give the new Rural Committee any ideas... grrrr.

I think that the government buys about 4 million cars a year. This problem may have a solution.
