if it gives you a black eye, it is not fantasy.

Poor kid. So many folks are so messed up these days and leading fairly miserable lives. I am thankful I do not have to live in an apt. After reading an account like yours, I won't complain about the loneliness out here. My dogs bark, I hear the freight train in the distance, it has been raining and the frogs immediately start up singing.
That woman must be awfully unhappy. Lets say a prayer for her. And for you, unless it is your dream to live there.

Could you dart her with some prozac?

Sorry, couldn't resist. I know it stinks to have screaming, shrieking neighbors. Telling them to stop screaming usually just makes them scream more. Maybe you could talk with the landlord? Doubt it would do much good, but it's worth a try. If it goes on late at night, call the police for disturbing the peace? Sounds like she is out of control. If you're miserable, you can bet your other neighbors are miserable too.

When she starts kicking up a real large fuss call the police and report a domestic dispute involving a toddler at that address. Call child protection and your landlord too. The woman is old enough to know that everyone else in the building can hear her rants and probably enjoys your audience.

When we lived in town, we also had a screamer for a neighbor. One morning, as we met over the fence I mentioned that I was worried about her, and almost called the cops. She apologized and tried to brush it off, told me that she gets excited and not to worry about her. I told her that I couldn't do that, and that next time I would be calling the cops. She suddenly got a lot more control of her temper.
