U.S. funding baboon study.
Good grief. You just can't make this crap up. They need to study the baboons in D.C.
"U.S. tax dollars are financing the costly and ongoing study of male baboons in Kenya’s Amboseli Basin. In the last few years alone, Uncle Sam has given a group of college researchers north of $1.4 million to study the behavior of baboons in Africa"

Maybe they are trying to tie the study in with the behavior of the members of congress.

That's not a very nice thing to say, about the baboons.
Take this one example of taxpayer waste, multiply x 100,000 and that's why we are broke.

I know that Limbaugh likes to make light of this sort of thing, and it's always good for a laugh, but as frivolous as it may seem it serves a purpose. This is the federal government's way of funding advanced education. This is simply a grant to help people get advanced degrees.

How's this for 'advanced education'...we are now studying the effect of penis size in gay men's sex lives;

You can't make this stuff up, great use for our tax dollars.

Is this supposed to make broke taxpayers feel better?
Advanced education is fine, but how about collecting baboon poop, from one of the hundreds of zoos and animal parks in the U.S.? They have their social hierarchies there also.
These types of projects are taxpayer funded boondoggles, for tenured "professors", more than anything else.

They feel better by not letting the USA become a second-rate society, where all of its professional people have to be imported from Europe, India, or China.

So BO threatens to cut off Medicaid and SS, blaming Republicans, but has money to pay students who likely have never worked at all.

We are already spending this money and education-wise, we are still becoming a second-rate country.
Should we be spending more? That usually what we do, when education is sub-par.

Throwing money at a problem is almost never the intelligent solution, but a reasonable investment still needs to be made.

Sounds like BO is creating jobs for his relatives in Kenya.

There's nothing reasonable about financing the study baboons when we are broke.
You keep calling for tax hikes, and they keep wasting more and more

There are plenty of private funding organizations that give out grants. The U.S. needs to get out of the grant business and concentrate on solving our own budget problems.

" The data were not collected using taxpayer funds," Jeffrey Parsons, a professor with Hunter College, said in an email. "NIH funds were not used to measure anyone's penis size."
"To suggest that 9.4 million dollars was spent to study penis sizes is factually inaccurate and simply designed to create news," Parsons wrote. The study, which last year was published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, claimed there previously had been "little research among men who have sex with men assessing the association between penis size and socio-sexual health."

To suggest the article said that is also inaccurate:
It does NOT say all the money was spent on that one study
Quote:

A Traditional Values Coalition release stated that at least $9.4 million went to a 10-year study that included the penis-size research -- but Parsons said it appears that references a much broader "post-doctoral training program" of which the penis-study funding was a "small" part.
|
The truth is Govt money WAS spent on the research, as evidenced by the fact it's actually posted on NIH's own website.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19139986
It also seems Parsons lied about it in his statement:
Quote:
|
"This study was funded by the Hunter College Center for HIV/AIDS Education Studies and Training," the National Institutes of Health said. "Dr. Christian Grov was supported as a postdoctoral research fellow at the time the research was conducted by a National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)-funded training grant."
|
NIH says they funded that study done by "Grov C.", not Hunter College

I have been sleeping to much. comment above about us being a 2nd class society; I thought we skipped that and went directly to 3rd class.

Exactly, it's very typical for someone like Rose to belittle any reference to "Foxnews" and then misunderstand everything that is in the article. LOL. Some people have just been potty trained to think that anything on Fox news must be wrong.
If it makes you feel better, Rose, I read the article from another source but linked the Fox article because it happened to come up first on the google search...I suppose if it had been MSNBC you would have treated it as gospel truth.
