It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Mmmm. He came off to me like a whiner, "Mommy, the Republicans won't play with me and I had a good idea for a new fort!"

He's used to getting his own way....either by intimidation or bullying or propaganda. Why does he remind me of union goons?

He reminds me of A.C.O.R.N.: Lie and get caught at it and then lie ABOUT being caught at it and then lie about that.
Tell people anything they want to hear to get them to do what you want.
Tell them you're FOR the little people, while the entire time USING the little people (the ends justifies the means) to get what you want.
Think if you repeat the same lie over and over again eventually you'll fool them and then act shocked when people catch on.

Mare - I am glad you are a union member too (too bad you live in a state where you don't have a choice if you want to work), and doubly glad I am not. Lets stop the BS about sweat shops - unions are about $$$ and power - nothing more - and if you are content to waste your money contributing to a union who doesn't care a whit about you anymore then so be it. As for me - I'll live in Texas where I have the right NOT TO BE A UNION MEMBER.

Why don't you take a look at all the states that have 'right-to-work' laws. Tell me which one's are like what you described.

Are you buying anything from those fatcats bussssinesses in China?

how many states that have right to work laws are any better off? still alot of unemployed? i buy as much american made as i can--which sadly isnt enough. but they do move their bussinesses to countries that still have sweat shops and i DO believe if they could get by with it in the states they would. and the states that are right to work states still have osha laws to follow which the unions had alot to do with putting in place. dont kid yourself the unions had alot to do with getting wages up and improving working conditions in the us. it wasnt the business owners who did that.

Here in Michigan, the Unions have ruined us. The empty factories are everywhere. Have you been to Detroit lately? Flint. My Father is a union thug and my Dh is in the useless Union where works. Now days the Union is not for anyone but themselves, and only help the useless lazy workers keep their job. Can't get rid of the bums, just why do you think there are so many bad Teachers,-Unions.

what i said was the fatcats would have sweat shops here if they could. unions arent as strong as they used to be but they still have their place. "dictated to/controlled by unions" ie not being able to turn this country into a country with sweat shops. i dont believe detroit fell apart cuz of the unions---its called "corporate greed".

Ah yes, the standard left Mantra. "If it wasn't for unions, we'd all be working 23 hours a day in dark dank basements with no heat or food with Ebenezeer Scrooge as our boss, having babies in the fields and going right back to work, everyone would be working in sweat shops under the thumb of fatcats...blah blah blah"

It amazes me that people actually still spout that carp.

What amazes me more is that they actually expect people to believe it.
