Obama Father's Day

Is he gonna direct this at inner city Blacks at all or will that remain unspoken?

This Father’s Day President Obama is kicking off the Year of Strong Fathers, Strong Families as part of his Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative. It’s an effort with partners from around the nation to create simple opportunities for dads and kids to connect. Whether it’s a free game of bowling, a Major League Baseball or WNBA game, a visit to the zoo or aquarium, or discounts for dads and kids through partners like Groupon and LivingSocial, we’re excited to help create small moments that can have a big impact. You can learn more and take the fatherhood pledge at on www.fatherhood.gov.

I think it's a good thing, and one you'd think he'd be fond of.
He talked about it during his last campaign, and I hate to seem cynical, but here it is again.
Anyway, I hope it does some good, but the ones who need to get the message don't care and won't care.

I believe that he is directing this at all fathers and not just ones of a particular ethnicity. There are plenty of fathers of every ethnicity who could stand to take a few of the steps outlined in the initiative.

The year of Strong Fathers? are you serious?? how about all of us who spent a lifetime trying to do right?? Oh, yea, I forgot. Its like all the other government initiatives. Those who tried, saved, worked, etc are just ignorant peasants. It only matters if you're a career failure who just now heeds the call. What a load of happy horse droppings.

I was at church with two of my daughters and a future son inlaw. The place was full of strong fathers. Some came from a line of strong fathers and others became strong fathers to spare their children their history.

I don't get why this has to be directed at "inner city blacks".

Last I looked crappy fathers came in all colors.

I went to an all white high school (very rural). There were quite a few kids who had fathers who were less than average. I had one friend who had a non-existent father. She lived with her Aunt and Uncle. Uncle told her that she had to be out of the house the day she turned 18-even though that was Christmas Day and smack dab in the middle of her senior year of high school. Another friend was knocked down the stairs by her dad when he was drunk.

Just because you're white it doesn't automatically make you a good Dad.

Just a bunch more Govt jobs "created" (that we pay for) and money spent (that we don't have) that won't change much of anything at all, other than to add to the debt

Read the other day in Dallas Morn News that 45% of dads have a child out of wedlock. Doesn't sound good.

Perhaps some women should be a bit more picky about who they sleep with. Then you would have losers fathers who have to be bribed to "connect with their kids".

No.. It definitely isn't good! I don't understand it... In this day and age of birth control, there is no reason to make babies out of wedlock just because you want to have sex with someone. While I'm not advocating promiscuity, I am advocating safe sex.
