All that I can say is that I hope and pray that the people

of Jackson county have a long memory at the voting booth. Because this waste of taxpayers money,
reflects on the chief prosecutor (Hank Zavislak) who hired this idiot. I knew Hank before he became
the sheriff and he did a good job then; I clearly don't know him anymore, as he allows this sort of
judicial misconduct to continue under his watch. Too bad that I haven't got my jury summons lately.....
I'd LOVE to serve on that trial.

And I will be voting.....

"Seth Foster, 23, said he found his family garage in disarray last summer and sent his dog in the building to investigate.

Grizz, a blue heeler, returned with the culprit, a young raccoon.

As two teenage boys watched, one of them filming its actions with a cell phone, Grizz killed the coon, Foster said.

Now, Foster is facing a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty resulting in death, which is punishable by a maximum of 90 days in jail and a $500 fine. A jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 25 in Jackson County District Court."

A snip from the article for those of you on dial up.

Of course, here is the part you didn't include:

"Blumer said the dog was encouraged to attack the raccoon and “tear it apart.” He likened this to cockfighting or dogfighting, both of which are illegal. “There is legitimate sport, and then there’s cruel sport,” he said."

Blumer "said". Since Blumer wasn't there, Blumer wouldn't know what really happened. Blumer is a prosecutor making a case. I don't want to live in a world where people who aren't at the scene can make up details as they go along. I got slammed for this in this very forum, when there was MORE evidence the person in the thread.

Until I can see the Video the boys made, I am taking this at face value...dog goes in to garage, sees racoon, does what dogs do.

So after you see the video, you will know what happened. But Blumer - who did see the video - doesn't know what happened because he wasn't there.

Um, you really think they are not going to watch the video and use it to prosecute the case?

You know what? When you're right, you're right. I didn't think it all the way through, just immediately got mad at some lady calling the police because a guy's dog killed a racoon. I had a mistaken outlook on this. I STILL would like to see the video, because I can't imagine this guy egging his dog on after the inital "go in there and get him, boy." More like, the dog couldn't be called back off once it started, but I haven't seen it, so just don't know.

I've only been guilty of this about a thousand times. What do you think a coon hunter does? I hope I never live where something like this could happen.

Yeah, maybe charge the kid with hunting out of season... that's legit, but, truly, I am glad I don't live around most of the folks who support this as some criminal action.

So, question for all the indignant "animal lovers" here...

I'll just quote the article:

Quote:
The whole incident has been “blown out of proportion,” he said. “To me, it’s no different than if you buy a cat to kill mice.”
Anyone have a cat that kills mice? If so, I think you should be charged with each incident of mouse murder performed. Cats are particularly cruel and PLAY with their prey.

Does this prosecutor reallly think pursuing this case is a good use of the taxpayers money?? Is this a place like Mayberry and there is no "real" crime? Too bad for the little raccoon but it already proved to be a nuisance by invading the home, and I guess the dog just hadn't been to a P E T A meeting to be "enlightened". sheesh!
