Mexican town's cops quit after colleagues beheaded

The police chief and all 38 police officers of General Teran, a northeastern Mexican town, have quit following a series of drug cartel attacks, including the decapitation of two of their colleagues.

Guess this could probably never happen where you live. I mean, how could they even get into the country?

This one incident may be "new" news - but this has been happening all along the border towns for a while.

is 'spot on'......the left's FIRST salvo, is to fire off the "R" response....in hopes of silencing
the opposition. If it hadn't been true, then they would have at least had the gumption to retort
with facts/figures, even if somewhat skewed to their own interpretation. Since we haven't heard
or seen any such thing to the contrary......I think it's only fair then, to pose the exact, same question:

Proud of yourself?

Racist.....hmmmmm.....no. Cultural bias perhaps, stereotyping perhaps, but not racist.

Racist would be saying that you think all persons of xXx race are stupid, inept, ignorant, incapable, etc.

Talk of salsa is not racist.

I know I sound naive right now but I do not see this happening here in America. Mexico has always been very corrupt, even in the best of times. The USA is a law abiding nation for the most part, we don't have the police corruption, the bribes, and etc.

Anyone who has been down to Mexico ever, knows that giving the cops a couple of twenties will get you out of anything. Its always been that way, try doing that here.

I lived in the hood for years as a young adult. What do you mean we don't have police corruption?

?????? I'm afraid that "naive" may be putting it lightly...Not too long ago, a 20 got you a free escort home, with a tip o' the hat in Philly.
Yeah, been there, done that with ...well, nevermind with what.

I don't see that kind of lawlessness breaking out here.

Matt, I lived 15 years of my 'Yute' in NYC..never heard of anything like that happening ever. I know there were/are mob pay-offs on a larger scale but it isn't something the average person ever saw, whereas it is common practice in Mexico.

I'll have to take your word about Philly, but I guarantee you that the cops in NY would laugh in your face if you offered them 20 bucks or even a hundred. Just trying that would guarantee a charge of attempted bribery. A cop would lose his job here for that, and he probably wouldn't be able to bribe his way out of it either.

If you guys think that the corruption and bribery here is anywhere NEAR what it is in Mexico I'd say you haven't been around too much.

Boy, talk about thread drift.

U.S. cops did a lot of things in the past, that they can no longer get away with, nearly as easy. There is just too much scrutiny, security/cellphone camera footage, paper trails, etc.

Mexican cops have always been on the take and generally corrupt.

Now that they are straightening up a bit and trying to actually do their jobs, they are getting beheaded.

Mexico is in a no-win situation with the drug smugglers. Small wonder, the people will risk everything, to sneak into the U.S., to get away from it.

IMO, the corruption goes all the way to the top, to the president of Mexico. I would be willing to bet (could I afford to) that he personally is receiving money from the drug lords to not get too rough on them.

I am also surprised (or rather not, considering how corrupt the gvmt. is there) that martial law has not been declared. They shoud declare martial law, and enforcing the curfews they enact by mowing down the drug gangs with fully automatic weapons at every opportunity. Killing them, as quickly as possible and in as large numbers as is possible, might help turn the situation. But the gvmt. only making a token effort to stop it is only going to result in a terrorist state developing right on our border.

They'd rather sit back and blame the U.S second amendment for their problems. Seems whenever there is a problem, it's always our freedom that is the cause, and the simple solution is to continually give up one after the other.
