So now I've got 9.5 million dollars....

Is this what mankind is becoming thanks to the internet, nothing but a society of predators and trolls who are too lazy to work?

Gullible and greedy are the two words that I would call it. The sender is the SCAM artist and

ID THEFT personified. The amazing part is how many Americans fall for this and send all requested info.

Yep, someone has to be sending it to them or they wouldn't keep doing it.

Scams have been around, long before the internet, but it's just more prevelant, since the Internet is so wide-spread.

Often, these scammers work very hard, to bring in a victim, from half way around the world, to get the info to take their money and then scam them some more, until their money is gone.

Scammers would be gone tomorrow, if it were not for an endless supply, of greedy and gullible people, who still firmly believe it's OK to trust a stranger, into getting them something for nothing. It's hard to feel sorry for them.

The exception is scamming old people, many who are more trusting, easier to confuse and may have some dimentia, poor hearing, etc. Calling them and telling them you are their grandson and you need $5k, to get out of jail (since you are innocent of course) - does not get any more vile than that.

Predators have a tougher time, when the prey is not so weak.

If you want a good laugh, check out this site. It is by people who have actually played along with the scammers--it's hilarious!

Yep, I recall getting Nigerian scam letters in the mail back in the early 80's. They've been around for a while.

There is nothing new under the sun.

I used to get scam inquiries for barcoding hardware and ID care printers. Every now and then, if I wasn't too busy, I'd screw with the people just to see how much they'd take. Sure it was a waste of my time but I'd blast out the replies to co-workers and they'd get a kick out of them. Plus I figured for all the people they've bothered they deserve to get screwed with. The language barrier usually just made things more hilarious. Just replace or slip in a random word to mess with them even more.

"I do not understand, we shipped the hardware 2 weeks ago per your email via the snatch courier you requested. Did you not isopropolate the receipt? We assume you may have been victimized by an e-transit gremlin and have notified the ISP that your emails have been transmitted through. Please let us know when your local law enforcement brigade arrives."

It takes two to tango.

One scammer, who's too lazy to work and rather steal it
PLUS
One fool, who wants to get rich quick and not work for it
EQUALS
The reason why internet scammers get rich.
