I'd go for a new "poverty alleviation program".

Mine is not working as well as I'd like.

These scammers will probably want a bank account number, to transfer your "winnings". Once you respond, they will not leave you alone.

Hmmmm, they selected you - but they don't know your name or gender???

I think they will try to get your bank info. to "transfer your award into your account" if you respond.

Mr Mohamed Lee
I wonder if his middle name is Ah

I'm guessing there are people that fall for these scams as there's still plenty of them going around. They hope someone will call or email and give them personal info. You have to pay some sort of fee, or tax as crispin said, before the funds are released to you... which of course never happens.

I got on the other month with some outrageous figure, and it said that I was one of a huge number of winners... and they give it out yearly... australian lottery of some sort, which of course didn't actually exist.

with any kind of spam or scam I always get frustrated and ask... why don't these people do something productive with their time? They have some skills... definitely have motivation... they could be successful in something useful if they tried.

I don't know.Go ahead and send all the info to Mrs Perkins, and let us know how it turned out.Just hang on awhile and stay in contact with her,and be friendly.Just as soon as she gets you dreaming about some dessert island you can buy, and lay out on YOUR OWN beach,or switching cars for Rolls Royce, and perhaps become a member of a very prestigous country club you couldn't afford before, thats when they will ask for your important numbers, like your SS number, bank account number and maybe drivers license number.Oh theres a prize alright, nice cars, beach getaways and around the world cruises. The thing is, all those prizes will be theirs and you paid for them...OK, what is the angle in this scam? - General Chat

While Chevron has contacted law enforcement agencies regarding these kinds of activities, it is often difficult to locate and prosecute the perpetrators. Anyone receiving one of these offers should report the matter to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
