How many more children will she have?

Tonya Williams and her six children had been living at the Traveler's Aid shelter in West Philadelphia since September. She had nearly completed a 90-day program, funded by the city, to help her with parenting skills.

Williams, 32, is charged with murder in last month's death of her son. The infant, a twin, weighed less when he died on Dec. 23 than he did at birth, and had nothing in his belly.

So sad. Is there any chance these twins could have had a birth defect that prohibited them from digesting food correctly? Obviously, if she has 6 children, she did feed at least 4 of them enough to grow up a bit. Perhaps the twins have a defect? Maybe not, but it's best to look into it rather than just assume the worst.

I hope that's the case, mekasmom. It's too horrible to imagine anyone letting this happen on purpose. On the other hand, between the mom and shelter workers, there should have been enough people paying attention to these babies that someone should have noticed they were severely underweight.

Digesting doesn't appear to be the problem. There was nothing in the baby's belly. If one has children should one be able to discern if a child is starving?

Is physical survival the new satisfactory parenting skill? What about emotional, mental, and physical nurturing?

This is just another example of the travesty of the "aid" we give to the "welfare class". This person is just a leech and a sponge and unbalanced breeder who watched her child starve to death. She should be immediately stripped, whipped through the street and hung on the public square. No child should have to endure such a horror as having the only person who is supposed to love them no matter what starve them to death and be unable to even speak to ask for food. I'm just appalled.

I don't know, how much extra welfare does one get for each new child popped out. Maybe she could collect SS for the now deceased child.

Yeah why don't we start gving breeding permits. Oy vey!

Legally she can have as many as she can pump out. Sorry.

I don't like it myself (her treatment of her children and the death of this one I mean) but there is no test you need to pass or permission you need obtain to have children.

Just last year about the same thing happened near where I live.
A druggie mon had a couple of kids. She left them in the care of her mother and sister.
The mother and sister decided they didn't like the father of one child and starved him to death. If I remember right he was about 4-5 years old. The other child had a father they liked. He was well fed.

Kind of sounds like we have a new "breed" of mothers. They are trying the "survival of the fittest" mode of raising children. Apparently they are looking for a new breed of child that doesn't have to be fed.

Some people don't have a clue! And it seems to be spreading. The "mother" needs to go through the same torture she put her child through.

It is rather overwhelming isn't it.. especially when I look at my two lovely thriving 9 and 10 month old grandchildren and how happy and precious they are and who look like little sweet cherubs. I am so sad thinking about that poor child...

I thought it was about The Duggar's. They may have many children, but they are well cared for.

What a sad story.

Kinda like the Constitution... that "old" form of Motherhood is just too hard to understand.

WOW. Nice to see you've tried her already.

I have a friend who had a foster son who was wasting away on her. He would either eat and barf it up or he would have funny poo. She was trying everything and going to doctors all the time. They ran tests and NOTHING. It just happened that they re-ran a test and happend to see something that wasn't right. The last 1/2 inch of his stomach had the slightest deformity that caused a hole. The formula would leak out into his system and not get absorbed. What little went through wasn't being digested well due to an enzyme issue the kid also had.

Yes, that child was about to die on her and it would have been listed as "malnourished and starved".

It's nice to see that the fine folks here would have had the rope out and had her swingin' by sundown.

These stories will continue as long as birthing is a "right".

Want assistance? Here's your birth control.

KnowOneSpecial--I try to always be of the mindset "innocent until proven guilty" however when you read to the end of the article that the autopsy concluded the child's death was caused by starvation and dehydration.......then I'm done, she's guilty.

Some people need to 'swing', sorry. I hope it is proven that the child had some sort of strange, unusual medical condition. Either way, an innocent is dead.

And there are indeed some mothers, and some people in general, who are simply not human. They do not have the innate, natural emotions that normal people have, yet the keep having children. In some cases, sterilization would be a good option. Then they can have as much sex as they want and not subject a living, innocent infant or child to their abnormal, unhuman choices. Example, the unhuman thing called a 'woman' who kidnapped, killed, burned with a welding rig, and dumped the dead body a boy in Houston last week. It wasn't her child--it was an 'acquaintances'. If that woman isn't an example of a demon wearing human flesh, I don't know what is.

A person who can't absorb nutrients could die of starvation. That's why I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt for now....kind of. As an experienced mother, she still should have realized her child was losing weight and in trouble.
