Snowstorm Rant
I am so tired of those news shows showing people in N.Y. and other places ranting about the snowstorm and how nothing was being done. Good grief it was an act of nature,no one new how much to prepare for it. And it was a massive amount of snow in a short time,of course everything was snowed in. And how do they expect the citys to clear every side street in just a few hours when they are stuck to!
And the peopple at the airports, There was plenty of warning the storm was comming, They can't blame anyone but themselves for being stuck in airports. They should have canceled trips or headed home sooner! One couple interviewed said they were just going to rent a car and go on home that way! Duh,don't you think if the planes can't fly the cars won't be able to get around any better.

Yes, they should just "chill" a bit, and when it's their turn they will be dug out. They need to remember that there are about 15 million other people in the same situation. But most city dwellers do not give the weather a second thought, their lifestyle is totally different from most of us and a lot of them have no clue about the problems that arise. All that matters to them is that their plans are put on hold and they are inconvenienced. If they've never experienced it before they think it can't happen to them, but many of them don't learn from past experiences either. Then the idiots like the ones that said they would drive end up getting stuck and stranded and it costs the tax payer money to rescue them......
That said -I still really sympathize with those people for experiencing a storm like that. I can't imagine that much snow because most winters we get less then 2 feet of snow, never mind getting that much and more all at once.

The problem in NYC is that the mayor promised that the roads would be cleared by now. He then had to go on TV and admit that they failed to do so. There are reports of several people who died because emergency crews couldn't get to them. One woman was stuck in her apartment with her dead father for 16 hours. I'm wondering if municipal budget cuts are partly to blame for some of the problems?
I find it interesting that Times Square is completely cleared of snow for New Year's Eve, however.

You noticed that too.
What I'm wondering why try plowing snow at this time start hauling and pushing it to the Harbor.I know there is miles of this but anything has to be better than what they are doing.

City people are out of touch with reality. It snows every winter, figure it out. In the summer they will complain that it's too hot. A fiend of mine sent me an editorial piece written by a nice city dweller. She was complaining about how cruel hunting was. It was wrong to kill animals and hunters should buy their meat that was made at the supermarket because no animals were hurt.
Yes, they reproduce and vote.

Funny it happens here all the time and no one blows a gasket. Did you see all the people in New Orleans that didn't do anything when a Hurricane was coming? People don't want to learn, what ya gonna do?

When I watch the weather, I just laugh because, well DUH, it's winter! What do people expect!?
Here in WI in the country, we are used to it all and if some darn fool wants to try to travel, well bless their heart!

Well ya' know - it's like too many rats in too small a space - they end up eating on each other (figuratively) along with that entitlement mentality.......

My wife was talking about our chickens and fresh eggs one day at work, and another woman there said:
"I would never eat a chicken egg. I only eat eggs from the grocery store"

it is possible she was referring to the taste. it did take some time to get used to fresh eggs as opposed to store bought eggs sitting on the shelf for over a year. i never knew eggs HAD a taste before i raised my own laying hens

some ways hunters use IS cruel. I know a fella who sees nothing wrong with baiting a bear with food. sorry, i dont agree with that. give the animal a chance. if a hunter is spending thousands of dollars to go hunting in other country or state...you arent starving. so what is the point in hunting? bow hunters? i think a quick clean kill is best rather than maiming it and having to track it.
but thats just me.

No, Im not kidding. Unfortunately the hunting statement was from an e-mail long deleated. There is the one I believe on Youtube where the woman has a sprinkler going in her front yard while she rants about poluted water because she sees the colors of the defracted light.

So do all hunters, but instant kills are a fantasy.
Your comment simply shows you know nothing at all about actual hunting

There was a story on the evening news claiming that the union encouraged sanitation workers to 'take their time' cleaning up the snow in NYC, because they are angry over budget cuts. Can you imagine if this proves to be true?

pork chops
My neighbor married a gal from Philly when he was in the navy.He brought her back to Iowa and started his farming operation. He brought a hog to the local locker plant to be butchered. The locker operator called her up to get directions on how to cut her pork and she said "we would like all pork chops".He just about filled his pants on that one.Everyone who walked in the locker heard that story for a while.Do any of you have a story like that?
