Obama Chia pet

I was in K-Mart the other day with my youngest son and we are standing at the check out and he says "HEY LOOK! An Obama Chia Pet." I'm like "No WAY!" But sure as ----, there it is. I am laughing like crazy now. When I go to pay the cleark says with a big smile on her face..."We aren't selling too many of those!" Just made me laugh even harder.

I saw those too! I don't care if you like the guy or not, you have to be pretty fanatical to buy one of those, or maybe it's the perfect gift for someone that you don't like much. lol

I thought they had stopped manufacturing those, after a big broo ha ha over the indignity of Obama being immortalized in terra cotta and having wet slimy chia seeds smeard all over his head?

My sister got me a chia pet one Christmas when I was young. I had been commenting about how I wanted one, but, I guess sarcasm was lost on her.

In truth, it actually ended up being kind of fun, though only fun enough for one use.

They sell these at Five Below (a junk store, where nothing is over 5 bucks) I thought about picking one up as a joke

Chia pets are usually considered "gag" gifts, or gift from those, too lazy to actually shop for a decent gift.

Hard to imagine anyone actually wanting one.

DW gave me one for xmas one year, because I goofed on them every time, the commercials came on TV. The thing was a mess to care for and stunk after about 1 month. Into the trash it went.

Would the feds be after you for using the leftover Chia head for target practice? Would it be considered suspicious behaviour to buy a whole cart full of Obama Chia heads?

Oh, the possibilities.
Oh, the repercussions.

When those things first came out years and years ago, they were cheap. If I remember, they were like $1.99 or something. I saw a display of them a while back and they're like ten bucks now!! What a waste of money. That same ten bucks would buy what, 6 or 8 packages of good garden seed?

Some stuff is soooo good you just can't make it up!

LIBERTY!
OPPORTUNITY!
PROSPERITY!
HOPE!

Seems to me if you got seeds that would sprout little white stalks it could also pass to a Don King chia.

Just so you know-------clay head shapes have been around for decades. My mother stopped teaching in 1936 and had one stored in our cellar, one she had used in her classroom.

I basically ruined it by using a crayon to color hair on it and the wax tended to seal the surface which tended not to allow the water to wick through the clay.
