Welfare prescriptions become part of illegal drug trade

Medical patients, including many who rely on Medicaid for prescriptions, have become a popular way to get drugs like OxyContin to the street. The patients see a doctor, or several doctors, and come away with prescriptions they sell to a dealer for as much as $1,000. Drug Enforcement Administration agents say the dealer can get $7,200 for the pills in that one bottle.

Wonder what kind of punishment, if any, those who sell their welfare prescriptions will receive?

Hey, that DEA is really on top of things!

Didn't Richard Nixon once, grant Elvis Presley, as an honarary agent, complete with DEA badge? Elvis could not wipe the smile off his face, for various reasons, none of which had to do with sobriety.

True story.

That's a regular deal around here. Many a Granny has been in the back seat when Jr. gets busted selling 1/2 the Oxy scrip in the Big Lots parking lot. After all they are "legal" drugs and Granny needs a few more bucks more then she needs all of those pain meds. Why choose between food or prescriptions when you can have steak and the prescriptions. Dr. shopping is the other big deal, beats all of that gas to go to Florida to get the Oxys.
