Will FDA ease lapband requirements? Marijuana still illegal

A person who is 5 feet 6 inches and has diabetes would have to weigh 216 pounds to qualify now. Under the proposed lower threshold, that person could weigh 30 pounds less, or 186 pounds.

I personally don't think the government should pay for lap band surgery. I think the money would be better spent on breast enlargements.

Personal experience -- Lapbands are not the cure for obesity.

You mention marijuana---yes, it's still illegal in our state, but my nephew is undergoing chemo-therapy right now and his doctors are openly suggesting that he find some.

I dont see why they have any requirements for using them. anyone can go get as many plastic surgeries as they can afford - how is this any different?

Rules and regs are being set up now for our future National Health Insurance, Randy.

At one time, weight-loss surgery was considered dangerous and was a last resort. That's why it was only performed on the most obese.

If I were him I wouldn't waste a second tracking some down. It's none of governments business.

One day while waiting for a bus in Fairbanks I heard a coughing sound and turned around in time to see a young man throw up. He reached in his shirt pocket and pulled out a joint and after a couple of puffs you could just see him relax and lose his urge to throw up. He explained that he had just come from chemo.

Congress should be ashamed for keeping this from people who need it just to protect the profits of the drug makers.

Don't do near as many tonsilectomies and appendectomies as they use to. So many other surgies now for doctors to get rich off of.

The government pays for lapband surgery?

I know several people who have had that surgery and the government certainly did not pay for it. They payed for it out of their own pocket or in the case of some recent surgeries the company provided health insurance covered a good chunk of the costs.
