I find it strangely 'ironic' that the ONLY word that comes to
mind to possibly explain this phenomena is the Hebrew word: chutzpah.
In Hebrew, chutzpah is used indignantly, to describe someone who has over-stepped the boundaries
of accepted behavior with no shame. But in ---dish, chutzpah has developed ambivalent and even positive
connotations. Chutzpah can be used to express admiration for non-conformist but gutsy audacity.
Leo Rosten in The Joys of ---dish defines chutzpah as "gall, brazen nerve, effrontery, incredible 'guts,'
presumption plus arrogance such as no other word and no other language can do justice to." In this sense,
chutzpah expresses both strong disapproval and a grudging admiration. In the same work, Rosten also
defined the term as "that quality enshrined in a man who, having killed his mother and father,
throws himself on the mercy of the court because he is an orphan."

I heard they modified the mosque plans in order to get funding. They are keeping the civics center but will replace the muslim prayer room with a muslim strip club which will offer full facial nudity.

This is just so wrong on so many levels. But of course, that's never stopped our government from taking our money to fund things we don't agree with.

No it won't!
The sheep will be lead to slaughter.. They don't care, cause it ain't on prime time..
More people vote for American Idol then vote in elections.. That is a shame in and of itself..
They will be slaughtered and deserve it..
Now a few of us will only go down fighting...But we may be to few and to late..

If there are federal monies set aside and available to Americans building in Manhattan, I fail to see how religion plays any role in the decision to loan or grant such monies, unless of course, it be that these federal monies may not be loaned or granted to any religious group. Then too, I as I understand it, there is to be no "Ground Zero" mosque, but rather, some sort of a muslim recreatational center built several blocks distance and it containing a wee mosque, in the same manner that many such christian centers have a wee chapel.

Yeah, before I got too wound up about this, I'd like to know more about the program. It would also be interesting to know whether any buildings owned by other religious groups got money from the program.
