The Protocols of the Elders of Zion

I'm doing research on Anti-Semitism and would like to do an informal survey.

How many of you have heard of "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion"?

If you've heard of it, do you belieive it is a real or a ficticious document?

I don't want any fights, I'm just looking for numbers.

Never heard of it, but then again I'm a pagan anyway and tend not to concern myself with others religion unless they try and confront me..

Sometime I will have to relate the story of how fast members of the LDS tried to get out of our home.... It's rather comical, but it worked, they haven't been back since..

It's real in the sense that the book exists, but the information contained in it is totally false.

zant, I think Thomas Jefferson read the Koran for that very same reason, to understand our enemy.

I've heard of it. Never read it. Never even seen it. Never had enough curiosity to seek it out.
If it is real, it might be interesting. If it is fictional, blatant, racial hatred, I do not need to. Some folks might, out of curiosity. Not me.

I didn't vote in the poll. I've heard of the Protocols but it's my understanding that it was proven more than 80 years ago to be Black Propoganda. (Something we still have happening in world politics today, especially promoted now through internet opinion pieces, blogs and forums).

If you click on the link and scroll down you will see many examples of Black Propoganda and you'll come to a section called Black Propoganda in Domestic Politics, it has mention there of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. You can click on those (blue) words there and the link will take you to the full Wiki page about the Protocols and their information about how it was proven to be Black Propoganda.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_propaganda

"Black propaganda is false information and material that purports to be from a source on one side of a conflict, but is actually from the opposing side. It is typically used to vilify, embarrass or misrepresent the enemy. Black propaganda contrasts with grey propoganda, the source of which is not identified, and white propoganda, in which the real source is declared and usually more accurate information is given, if also slanted or distorted.

Black propaganda purports to emanate from a source other than the true source. This type of propaganda is associated with covert psychological operations. Sometimes the source is concealed or credited to a false authority and spreads lies, fabrications, and deceptions. Black propaganda is the "big lie," including all types of creative deceit.

Ultimately, black propaganda relies on the willingness of the receiver to accept the credibility of the source. If the creators or senders of the black propaganda message do not adequately understand their intended audience, the message may be misunderstood, seem suspicious, or fail altogether.

Governments will generally conduct black propaganda operations for two different reasons. First, by utilizing black propaganda a government is more likely to succeed in convincing their target audience that the information that they are seeking to influence them with is disguised, and that its motivations are not apparent. Second, there are diplomatic reasons behind the use of black propaganda. Black propaganda is necessary in order to obfuscate a government's involvment in activities that may be detrimental to its foreign policies."
