I'm planning my trip South right now. Can't leave for a while because I have jury duty!

Read this morning about a giant typhoon which just hit Japan and was now spinning NE towards the Aleutians and Alaska, regaining strength. The upshot is that this huge low pressure system will cause Canada and much of the US to experience temps 15F degrees colder than normal by the end of next week.

Renee, you get so much of this weather, it's probably just a walk in the park for you. Thanks for sharing the great picture...and stay warm in the Northland.

Actually last year was fairly mild. The ice roads across the lakes were not opened and the timber companies are way behind with work because the bogs were not frozen enough to take the big machines in. But we do always get a lot of snow here. The climate is dry so very healthy. I work hard to keep warm here in Norrland. Thanks for the comments

I was kinda hoping the cold would hold off for a while because I'm going to be on crutches for quite a while yet but recent reports indicate that my left foot is going to be very cold next week

Mohair socks is the answer for that. I broke my big toe (dropped a frozen pork joint on it ) one year. Hobbled about with two thick mohair socks and a thick plastic bag for a month. Well, several bags got warn out but not the socks.

I wanted nice soft socks but I have one of those hateful air casts so the stupid thing is constructed to cover the toes but the poly-itchy stuff just seems to create a wind tunnel instead.
I do have to go hunt for a a pair of socks I made for my youngest that were way too big and if I'm not mistaken, they might just cover the wind tunnel and the poly- itchy stuff.

I haven't heard that RW. I must check the weather in a bit. that's probably not going to affect us though more than likely up north more. we are having great weather for almost the middle of nov. granted we've had a week of rain but a lot better than snow. I wouldn't be surprised if it changes quickly though. Nov. 11th is coming up and that's always cold here. ~Georgia.

I guess now I have to stop procrastinating and get ready for winter properly. I get lulled by the sunshine.

omg Bill! you're showing those feet again. how do you ever manage to walk upright? do you have to have special footwear? I'd be down on my hands and knees more times than I'd be up. one thing I have is good feet. ~Georgia
