My life is saturated with 18 and 19 year olds, their friends, families and classmates. The most well received advice I'm giving to the kids are the pursuit of knowledge is free with only an investment of time. Your name is your most important asset, being known as a person of honesty, integrity and good character are not always the easy choice, but the best choice. To some, keep your priorities in order, God, family, community. To my daughter from her science teacher in a beautiful card where her diploma should have been, received as she was tangling and strangling in her NHS sash and Honor Roll ropes, "Keep asking questions and keep questioning the answers."
Flying blind through DD's flurry of activities, Student of the Month banquet, Prom Princess, Senior Presentations, Senior Roadtrip, graduation parties, graduation, Senior Safe Night, why don't they keep the kids through a pancake breakfast? And gifts to make, give and receive, plans to make, business to address, new people to meet, and wild strawberries are ripe. I still have Silly String stuck to the bottom of my shoes. I leave confetti wherever I walk.
We got the prom pictures and the royalty picture gives me the giggles! DD knew to get her picture taken as soon as she got to the prom before she got wrecked dancing. By royalty picture time, her Heroes were stripped down to their wifebeaters, (with ties) flexing their muscle and showing their Tribal tattoos. The girls had big beautiful smiles sparking brighter than their crowns.

I'm having difficulty getting pictures online.
Meeting with these young people, listening to them share their hopes and dreams, their plans is awesome! Some were married this week, some have more school, off to college, technical institutes, military service. The sadness in my heart is knowing some won't make it to the end of summer. Some of us moms know how hard some are hitting the party. It happens every year.
Share your graduate stories? Kids are awesome at this age!
