Just for us space nerds

While cleaning out my inbox of some old Design News articles I saw this one from a couple months back and that Shygal and a few others might enjoy a glimps into some of the special things being printed up in preparation for NASA' next SLS.

This piece was printed right here in Huntsville. It still amazes me at how much 1960s Star Trek science fiction is now sort of reality. When 3D printing first became reality I never considered the fact that metallic printing would be this common and increase reliability by elimination of NASA spec welding.

Interesting that you post this today. I just learned my daughter has been contacted by a TV news reporter due to her rabid interest in anything space related. She was one of only 100 people in the USA two years ago that got to go behind the security doors at NASA for a behind the scenes tour.

They printed a stem cell a few weeks ago. In our children's lifetime they will print kidneys and hearts that will be the person's own tissue. Pretty cool.

Awesome!
I found out a month after I had left my Florida vacation, they were opening the VAB for tours, I was so mad at missing that!
