Downtown Burned Down

Downtown Burned Down. Main Street from Rainforest Art Center to The Stop Light, up Division to the Surf Shop. It was a very important half-block right in the center of town. Fire trucks were more than a block away on a false alarm when the call-out came in for a fire across from the fire station. Then another building went up on the other side of the block on Main Street, in our Historical buildings.

Someone broke into the school and pulled 3 fire alarms drawing FD and PD away from the real fires.

Businesses lost, potential businesses lost, homes, social centers and community icons...GONE.

I've been up since the first call-out.

Hell Week? Insurance? Someone wants to own the town?

Too well planned for 12 year olds.

That sounds awful. Do you think the false alarm was deliberately set in order to allow the other fires to be generated?

Yes I do.

3 fire alarms at the school drew ALL the trucks. When reported no smoke visible, then intruder alarms went off drawing cops on duty to the school.

While all FD and PD are at the school, small business and home in stick built on corner across from fire house catches fire. FD respond and are busy trying to put it out with cops watching when unrelated fire starts middle of the block mainstreet.

It's a small town. Right now we could expect maybe once a month chimney fire.

That sounds like a well planned group. I hope that no lives were lost and the person(s) responsible found quickly.

Sorry to hear about it. Tried to find some news blogs using the Arts Center to site the event, but nothing on Google.

Young family with toddler homeless and out of business, La Tienda Mercada collaped, several nice stores vacant and for lease at reasonable rates, we wre looking at a few of them. We had big plans for Arts Center, it had a new roof and good acoustics. It's where dance and martial arts lessons were held.

Everybody has theories.

I don't think it was the punks who planned it.

Oh Laura! I'm so sorry, I know that is a hard hit in your lil town--the destruction and figuring out who.

Now I know you will understand this comment(and I dont' need to explain it to anyoen else ha)--maybe the sparkly vampires did it. I know that had to be a blessing and a curse.

That is awful! A bit suspicious that more than one store was vacant though.

These are often "Friction Fires".........(Caused when the mortgage payment rubs against the cash-flow of the building owner, often stimulated by excessive property insurance).

A few years ago the goofy DD had a dream she was eating breakfast on Mainstreet when Roy Rogers walked up and told her those Dazzling stores would close soon. Then a meteor came crashing down destroying the stores. That's exactly what looks like happened.

She's a Sideways Circus Psychic.

The Mainstreet buildings were owned free and clear. I know the families.
