Pictures from Sept. & Oct.

As some of you know, in the summer I moved out of the city (again) back to a rural town in the valley (again). So here are some pictures I took while going for walks during the past couple of months.

This is the Fraser River. The big poles you see sticking up along the shoreline are for tying up log booms.

A creek near my place that runs into a different river, I took this while picking blackberries.

An underpass that goes under the highway to a public wharf on the river.

During the summer every Sunday evening there's a free concert on the wharf. This was a lively Celtic band playing to the audience .... with a full moon rising in the north east. It was a night shot taken without a tripod so it's a bit fuzzy.

One more post to come with some more pictures ..............

I made a new friend. His name is King, he is just a puppy (5 mos. old) - he is a wolf dog, 3/4 wolf, who belongs to a Yukoner that just moved south. King is learning to be a guard dog at a construction site where his owner is a security guard. King likes me well enough but he wanted to eat my camera.

Thanks. Settling in slowly but surely. It was nice in the summer but now the wet cold weather has moved in and we are expecting snow flurries this week. It is very windy and chilly out there now so I'm glad I got some walking and picture taking down while the weather was still nice.

Thank you. I don't know what they are but there was a narrow bar of sunshine slanting across a part of them that made them look stunning and I couldn't resist taking the picture.

I think you're right Katy, I think they are asters. I did a search on tiny blue asters and found Aster oblongifolium aka "October Skies Asters" that fit all the criteria to a T.

Quote:
'October Skies' is a dwarf aster that is low to the ground and mounding. It flowers in the fall when most other plants have finished for the season, covering itself with hundreds of dark sky-blue flowers.

What a beautiful place you live in. Must do your soul good to see those sights daily.

Thank you for sharing them.

(I like the water with the mountain in the background, and the red leaves and flowers - just a tiny bit more than the others).

I just have to ask if you have a canoe? or a Kayak? I would so be in that creek! Lovely photos and the flowers are gorgeous!

I had a canoe once but got rid of it, it was too big for me and the wind blew me around willy nilly in it too easily because I don't weigh enough and I wasn't strong enough to paddle against the wind. If I ever get a boat again it will be a very small kayak.
