My sons and I were talking about psychology the other day. My 14yr old will be a freshman this year and we were discussing course selections throughout his HS yrs. Even though he was in the gifted program, due to his math apptitude, it's never really piqued his interest as much as why people do the things they do.
So, we were looking at ways for him to explore the 'wackier side of life' while still giving him a strong foundation for post HS studies.
The oldest pipes up with, "You know, I read somewhere that all of the characters in the Winnie The Pooh books were based on various psychological disorders. Like, Tigger was hyperactive, at the very least. Maybe ADHD or bipolar even. Eeyore: depressed, the consumate pessimist, Piglet: similar, yet a little different. Something to do with a persecution complex or inferiority, and obviously Christopher Robin was delusional.
I don't know about the supporting cast like Hefalumps and Woozles, which only began to get speaking roles later on. Heck, I don't even know if I spelled their names correctly. And of course that got me to thinking, which one, or ones, do my ideosyncrasies represent?
What disorders do the other characters represent? More importantly, which one are you? C'mon...be honest. After all, very few people really know who you are anyway.
Son #1 told me that it was probably the most derainged thing he's heard in quite a while when I said that, "There are moments -just moments, mind you- when I feel like the progeny of a love triangle between Henny Penny, Chicken Little, And Eeyore." I know...the poulty-ettes aren't in the cast. But, it's Eeyore, for God's sake! Look at him. What kind of prospects do you think he has? Pretty far down on the perfect partner scale, don't you think?
Well, I've got to go act like Rabbit and weed, water, and tie up tomatoes. Then, after I get my 'fix' of communing with nature, I can spend the rest of the day BOUNCING!

pffffffftttttt.....some things are just plain fun..stop analyzing...lol
you cant watch this and not smile/laugh.....life rocks...laugh loud and hard it makes the day go better.
Excellent elk! I'll probably get stuck in a loop with that one going through my head all weekend. It's astounding what songs the tempo of a scuffle hoe will dredge up from the depths of this mind.
But hey...no downers here. To paraphrase what they say in the military, if you don't hear any interesting, yet completely useless, information by 10AM, start your own.
I love Winnie the Pooh and in fact it is in my dvd player right now. The kids will get to watch it at nap time.
I would be a toss up between Pooh Bear which I think is so cute by the way and Tigger because he bounces and trounces and that is pretty much how I would describe my day.
Mark my words, he'll be hawking something on your screen soon... May not be car insurance but he'll be selling alright...
Back in the day some great music was created by the "counterculture". now it's the background music to any number of commercials for cars, food and you name it... Once they realize there's gold in them golden oldies they'll be milked dry...
I believe the Pooh may have already done public service spots... I know Bambi is selling forest fire prevention... Soon she'll be hawking Meatless Monday's. LOL...
