What DVD format?

I bought a tv/dvd player combo today but am having a terrible time converting the FLV file into something the player will read.

What format is a DVD player supposed to read?

You will need to do more than just convert the video file type for most DVD players to recognize it. The DVD needs to be laid-out in a manner that DVD players understand. But there is free software that can do that for you. I use DVD Flick for that, which is free and happens to be able to handle FLV files. You'll find detailed instructions on how to do it at this link.

How to burn .MOV to dvd?

Good luck!

Thanks.

I was using Sothink converter software and then Sothink DVD maker but except for one time I could only get sound. That may have been the way the new tv was set up but I don't know.

Today I learned the FLV must be converted to MPEG2 and THEN run through DVD Maker software. I tried it and only got sound again.

Then I decided to try the Windows DVD Maker that came with my computer and it worked slick. It even made a menu with floating thumbnails. The quality isn't very good but I guess that's because they were FLV videos and that format is designed to load fast so it sacrifices quality.

Now if all the hair I pulled out would just hurry up and grow back.
