Anyone Use Dragon?

Has anyone used Dragon speech recognition software? If so, what did you use it for?

I played with it, but it seemed to be more trouble than it was worth. I probably need a better mic since it didn't seem to hear me very well.

Same thing here. I wanted it to record notes after meetings with clients but it was easier and faster to type the notes myself.

I have a student with cerebral palsy that uses it. It took a little bit (week or 2) for the program to really get his voice patterns, but now he thinks it's completely awesome. Personally, I'm a quick typer, so it seems like it would be more of a hindrance to me, but if you aren't quick, and are willing to put in a little time to get it to learn your speech, I think it's a great program.

Also, I'm talking about the paid version. Not sure if they have a free version, but if so, I doubt it's as good as the paid version.

I bought one

Years ago, when it was in the early stages, and that thing was just horrible. I do medical transcription, and we use voice/speech recognition, and it is not really any better, in my opinion than dragon. If you have a slight change in your voice, it has to relearn you each time. You get a cold? Have to reteach the silly thing. I hated it. I finally threw it away.

CoSunflower uses the program with the kids she works with. She's who I first learned of it from.

I just picked it up last week for my ds(11) to use for his homework. Haven't used it yet as I had to get their pc up and running again. Got that taken care of today so I'll be installing it tomorrow for him to start using.

Its been around a long time, was one of the first speech recognition software out there.
They have been hawking it pretty good on tv lately... While it works, it takes time to train. Its not magic light they show in the commercials. I personally dont think its worth the $100, but if you check ebay you can find it in the $25 range and it might be worth that.
